Dr. David Peter Ellent, MD

I got a drive up COVID test at Genesis Medical Group on FM 249. They billed my insurance $627.88 for the test and then $800.00 the next day for a teleconference with a Dr. David Ellent. That phone conference never took place. I never saw a doctor and a doctor never called me. He is an oncologist and CEO of Genesis Medical Group. Draw your own conclusions.

Dr Ellent has a team approach. You will see him and his nurse practitioner. They will give you their cell phones. They are incredibly caring. However, regarding Dr Ellent little warning he is very straight forward. If he notices that you have done something he doesn’t like ( didn’t do blood work or didn’t take medicine he wants you to take ) he gets very upset. He will also get upset if the doctor he refers you to didn’t see you or reschedules you. I heard him talking to my breast surgeon. I am pretty sure he made surgeon fire someone in their staff. ( they kept rescheduling my appointment). Anyway I love them both Dr Ellent and Shannon.

I found Dr Ellent to be very impersonable and distant in his interaction. His nurse practitioner, Shannon, went over the top making me feel comfortable and confident the treatment would be successful. She was very supportive during this stressful time.

He attended my mother who had problems after a thymectomy which required radiation. She LOVED Dr. Ellent and his Nurse Practitioner, Shannon, as did I. I've never encountered a doctor and staff kinder and more supportive, not to mention effective. For instance, when there were difficulties scheduling Mom for a scan at a location closer to home than initially scheduled due to her frailty and difficulty in traveling any distance, Shannon jumped on it immediately and got her a timely appointment closer to home and actually sooner - Mom didn't have to make numerous phone calls (nor did I) trying to set things right. This meant a lot while we were struggling with Mom's illness. Dr. Ellent, Shannon, and the rest of the staff haven't let us down through this whole procedure, and we are VERY grateful.

Dr Ellent is very knowledgeable and is very specific in what he diagnosis

told I probably had AMl-given wrong records-swept under rug-back to square one. Would Not Recommend!

Has made me comfortable and confident in his findings and projected treatment.

Dr. Ellent is not very good at what he does. Obviously, he is very interested in overtesting a patient especially when me might have a financial gain. I can not tell you how often he wanted to repeat a PET scan on our family member. (of course he owns an interest in the machine). Does not list and does not like questions. Really really not someone to turn to with cancer. Run from him.

after marrow results proved to be inadequate he wanted to another and a PET scan. After, my husband was seen by 2 Hem/Onc. @ Brook Army in San Antonio. They called Ellent and he wouldn't discuss my husbands case and did not return their calls to discuss why he did the biopsy. Subsequently, we had a third opinion at MD Anderson, where my husband was told there was no need for bone biopsy or PET scan. Needless to say we will never give this person a recommendation for any care.

On more than 3 office visits over the past year, Dr. David Ellent and his staff have exhibited the poorest behavior for medical professionals. The office staff, especially the Woodlands location, leaves little to be desired. Wait times have exceeded more than 1 hour and 20 minutes, and then Dr. Ellent will answer phone calls during my visit. His staff will schedule appointments when they know he is not available and provide no excuse or apology when time has been taken off from work. This is my last visit to this medical group. There are many more doctors in Houston, TX with much more qualified staff and better bedside manner.
