Dr. Frank D Mastandrea, MD

This doctor did a procedure to remove a kidney stone and he is totally incompetent according to the doctor I had to find to fix what happened. This procedure took place on Jan 15th 2026, and I'm still seeing a doctor to fix what he did to me. In March hopefully the nightmare will be resolved without the loss of kidney or life. He's a very bad joke of a doctor. Don't walk away RUN for your life.

Was supposed to be a minor, outpatient procedure to remove a cyst. After which , my husband swelled up and spent 5 days in the hospital. This doctor said there was nothing he could do and had him discharged. My husband couldn't get out of bed on his own. He couldn't walk, or dress himself or even use the bathroom Noteven a follow up office appointment! We had to insist on one almost 2 weeks post surgery because the wound started bleeding. This doctor told him his lack of recovery was his own fault and literally told him to just walk it off! Didnt make eye contact and denied a request for an ultrasound! The next day, the wound started gushing blood. We had to rush to the ER at 1am. The on call urologist had to do another procedure with a 3rd one still scheduled to fix this idiot's work and will spend another 5 days in the hospital! DO NOT SEE THIS DOCTOR!

This place is terrible. The manager is horrible. She doesn’t answer her voicemail and every time I call she is never there. How does a manager not come to work???? Go to another dr. Save yourself the headache.

Honestly this is one of the best doctors to ever treat me. I was diagnosed with hydronephrosis and spent over 15 years in and out of hospitals, test after test, one doctor after another. Finally, Dr. Mastandrea looked at my renal scan and took the time not just with me but my family to explain what was going on. I needed surgery. His bedside manner was fabulous. He was kind and understanding of my fear and pain. On the day of surgery I panicked and he stopped again to take time in the preop room to draw everything he was going to do. He is amazing. I've done very well after surgery. He is a great doctor. Wonderful surgeon. If you need a great doctor who knows what he is doing, trust him. Listen. I have read the other reviews, and seriously, I needed a good solid doctor. My life could have been at risk. He was the only doctor after 15 years to say "kiddo you should have had this done years ago". To me, knowledge is powerful. My health and life matters. Your's should too. For me, best… decision I had ever made. God Bless.

I always try to get to my appointments early, I had to take Uber to my last appointment and got the address wrong. But I still arrived less than 15 min late. I was told my appointment is canceled and I could not be seen today. I explained that I don’t have a car and live 45 min away. Still didn’t mater. I’ll find a closer Dr. hopefully with much better reviews than this one

Worst Doctor I’ve ever had the displeasure of visiting. He’s rude, condescending, and seems extremely disinterested in helping patients. Also, his office operation. Is disorganized, set an appointment then call you back to reschedule, happened to me every time. There many other better urologists in Tampa, stay away from this one.

This doctor is rude and acts as if you are wasting his time. Left some very serious information out of my blood results. I went there for treatment of a bladder condition and his advice was to stop drinking so much water??? Then handed me a book and said I should consider the BioTE pellet to improve my sex life...we never discussed my sex life. Very out of touch and disconnected. Do not go to this doctor if you expect quality treatment or any compassion!!!

Most people want a doctor they can talk to, who is compassionate and tells you the truth. His compassion is non-existent. His skills are questionable. When surgical errors are made, he doesn't face you with the truth about your condition, nor does he apologize for his errors. You need to discover the problems yourself. There is no guidance, lots of vague answers, and he seems to use a contact of fright and bullying. He is smug in his attitude toward the patient and his family. He talks to you with one foot out the door attitude, as if he has something better to do with his time. His operative reports are unclear and hard to follow - that's when you will discover his surgical errors. Hard to believe that he is allowed to practice medicine!

I have been treating with Dr Mastandrea for 3 months now. During my first visit and every visit thereafter, both the doctor and staff have always behaved in a very professional manner. Staff is respectful, kind and caring. Dr Mastandrea clearly explained my medical condition and treatment options available. His original recommended treatment plan for me was conservative and non-invasive. By no means was Dr Mastandrea quick to put me "under the knife." I really appreciated that. My kidneys have been producing, passing and storing stones for over 30 years. Dr has been the very FIRST urologist ever to try to pinpoint the "cause" of my particular type of stones. In doing so, (results still pending) hopefully I will have deeper insight as to better being able to lessen the chance of more developing in the future. I highly recommend Dr Mastandrea to anyone needing a skilled, professional and compassionate Urologist. Appointment scheduling has never been a problem, and wait times in his… office have never exceeded 10-15 minutes.

Not all he is cracked up to be. Does not really listen.
