Dr. Frederick Harvey Watkins IV, MD

Dr. Watkins is incredibly skilled, knowledgeable and caring. He was receptive to all of my concerns and was able to cite literature to address them on the spot. That definitely speaks to his many years in surgery and his commitment to keep abreast of all of the various trends, and advancing technology. He also did not try to oversell me on anything. I went in with an objective and he was committee to addressing my objectives when I have heard other docs do try to upsell other services and/or products. The operation was smooth and the surgical staff were meticulous and had great bedside manners. I am very happy with my results!

I am extremely impressed and pleased with Dr. Watkins and his staff. I had a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty and backplasty) performed by Dr. Watkins. Dr. Watson reviewed my surgical options and the pros and cons of each surgical option to remove excess fat and skin after my substantial weight loss so I could make an informed decision. I am a physician and finding a knowledgeable and skilled surgeon with great bedside manners is what I needed. I found Dr. Watson to have these attributes. I am happy with the high quality of service and results from surgery that Dr. Watkins was able to provide. The results from the surgery exceeded my expectations. Additionally, any logistical needs I had were attended to by his staff very well.

I had a so-called neck lift, which was really just liposuction (which I was not looking for) leaving sagging skin and horrible looking banding in my neck. All I got was "well, we thought that could happen" at my 3 month post-op appointment (not sure who "we" is, as this was not mentioned as a possible outcome). No apologies, no offer to provide additional corrective surgery, and no concern or even offer for a follow up appointment to re-evaluate. I am now completely self-conscious of my appearance and try to keep my neck covered when in public. I have also spent tons of money on alternate treatments to improve the appearance, but it still looks worse than it did before the surgery.

Due to an accident, I lost all mobility in the fingers of my right hand. The emergency room doctor gave me the name of Dr. Watkins and said I should call him on Monday. I had a consultation with Dr. Watkins. I wanted to know what would be done and how much it would cost. We spoke for about 10 minutes. He said he would not be sure of exactly what was needed until I was cut open. He also did not give me a definite quote because he wasn't sure exactly what would be needed. I had consultations with two other doctors that gave me a free consultation. Dr. Watkins sent me a bill for $334 and his notice today said that he is sending it to collections. I will not be paying it as I got nothing for the money and it seems to be standard practice for doctors to give an initial, free consultation, but not Dr. Watkins.

I have spent the last 12+ years of my life living with large cuts in my nose that Mr. Watkins caused. He did not treat me very kindly or respectfully post surgery. Mr. Watkins is not a good person and certainly not a good doctor or surgeon. My experience here was really really bad. I would never recommend him for any type of surgery. One of the biggest let downs of my life happened with this man.

He charged $325 for a brief office visit where he did nothing. No insurance company would ever allow that charge. He is taking advantage of out of network patients! This is a very client unfriendly business practice that borders on unethical.

I had never had sizable breasts, yet I had never considered breast augmentation. But after weening my younger of two children, I found that with the shrinking supply of breast milk so was there shrinking size of the breasts! After several years of having no breasts, I was terribly self conscious and could not convince myself that it did not matter to me. Dr.Watkins was very informative about the particularly and how to make the best choice of size and shape.(a conversation that I found radically amusing). He and his staff were very reassuring and professional. I am very happy with the results. They fit my frame and appear natural. I was procedure impressed with his competence in handling the [rarely occurring] medical curve balls my condition threw.

Billing process is horrible. I did not receive an invoice until 9 months after treatment, which resulted in not being able to apply it against a satisfied deductible OR deduct on my tax return, since I had other deductible expenses that year. Sent 3 letters asking for an explanation as to why it took so long and the only response I received was a threat to turn me over to a collection agency.

Check Dr. Watkins on Maryland court databases. Dr. Watkins sues his own patients regularly. Not sure what kind of dr operates on people and sues them afterwards. I would avoid Dr Watkins for anything surgical at all costs.
