Dr. Gerard Kyo Jeong, MD

Dr. Jeong and his team have been instrumental in directing my back problems. After 12 years of dealing with lower back pain and radiating pain down both legs, I am healing wonderfully. I am getting my life back and I owe it all to them!

I had ruptured my L4 & L5 discs. I was experiencing excruciating pain. I was unable to sleep or sit. I was referred to Gerard by a client that was the head of radiology. She told me he was one of the best Orthopedic surgeons in Tucson. I have only good things to say about Gerard & his staff. He would explain things in layman terminology. He always returned my calls in a timely manner. The surgery was very successful. I play a lot of sports. I am 66 years old and still hit the baseball like I did when I was in my 40's. Thank you Dr. Gerard K Jeong, Md. I would highly recommend Gerard to my friends and clients.

The provider was very knowledgeable. After seeing two other doctors he was the first MD that seemed to know what he was talking about and could explain it very well. I would recommend him to anyone with back or spine issues.

Impossible to communicate with unless you schedule an appointment, good luck getting anything sooner than a month. If you call to speak with him, you will experience a labyrinth of message-takers, assistants, office managers, etc. for a week or more just to get a simple message to him. He never called me back personally. After all of this, he did nothing for me except offer rounds and rounds of PT, spinal injections, suggest I take ibuprofen and use heating pads. His office prescribed a muscle relaxer which helped but I couldn't take for long due to side effects. I told them this, and asked if there was something else I could try. I was told to schedule an appointment but of course I couldn't schedule with the person I was talking to, I had to hold for 20 minutes to speak with someone else to schedule. Then I got another call back and was offered more PT. $40 each visit to the Doctor and $40 for each PT appointment plus childcare, plus missing work, just to "try it" and see… if it works. Meanwhile I am in loads of pain, but that doesn't seem to be of concern to anyone at TOI, or especially Dr. Jeong.

Dr. Jeong performed a decompression laminectomy at L3 and L4. He told me beforehand that favorable outcomes with this type of surgery are high. I felt comfortable leading up to the operation because of his encouraging words about the prospects of the surgery. It has been five weeks since the surgery, and my back is pain-free. Dr. Jeong has a very good "bedside" manner in making the patient feel comfortable. He gets five stars from me.
