Dr. Ismael Montane, MD

In 2004 he screwed me up for life. He made an "accidental laceration" in my spinal dural sac severing multiple nerves causing them to never repair themselves & die. He left me with permanent damage in multiple ways: I have extreme numbness (vagina, buttocks and the entire back of my left leg down to my ankle), I have to use urinary catheters because I have no sensation to urinate & have to use an alarm that goes off every 4 hours to tell me to pee, nerves misfire down my left leg which I need medication to calm them & the pain they cause, I still have major back pain, I don't know when I have to defecate & forget making it to the toilet if I have diarrhea, sciatic nerve pain is worse than before surgery, I have constant hip pain where he took a piece of bone to fuse into my spine, etc., etc. The metal rods & screws he put in were causing me so much pain, I had them removed two years later by another surgeon because you couldn't pay me to go back to him. He brushed me off after surgery.

Unfortunately, this is a not a doctor that will greet you upon entrance, ask why you are there, or listen when you offer the information. I was unable to get any feedback or insight as to why I have had recurring back pain for the past 6+ years. It was a very upsetting experience to have to wait an hour after my appointment time, spend a half day out of the office, and feel that it was completely wasted. I was given a medication without explanation for its prescription. I go to an expert to seek medical advice, and that it not what I got. The office staff was lovely, and seem to be afraid of him. Not for me, ever again.

After 2 hours waiting in the reception area without any acknowledgement from the staff, I was able to see the doctor. He’s very nice, knowledgeable and friendly but his staff is not at all. In my second visit, the same thing happened again but the wait this time was 2 and a half hours. I left the office without seeing the doctor. I don’t recommend this office at all

We ended up with Dr. Montane following a bad fall my grandmother had which required emergency surgery. I was worried about the outcome after reading some of the reviews, but I now realize how fortunate we were that Dr. Montane was on call for her surgery. My grandmother had a severe femoral fracture which required extensive surgery, including a metal rod and pins, and 3 blood transfusions. We were told full recovery could take up to a year. It has been 3 months and my grandmother is almost at the point where she can walk completely unassisted and I attribute her success entirely to Dr. Montane's skill. Admittedly, his office staff could be a little more competent and attentive (accidentally skipped two waiting patients; nurse did not assist her with sitting on the x-ray table), but Dr. Montane is always professional and kind.

I would not recommend Dr. Montane to anyone. Been in a wheel chair for the past 6 mths because of bad surgery and now I have to redo surgery to correct his mistakes.

Rude and unprofessional. Expect to wait at least 5 hours.

This doctor should not be practicing medicine. He is most rude person I have ever encountered...Not professional at all. I would never ever recommend him even to my worst enemy!!!!

VERY GOOD DOCTOR IN GENERAL. DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT PLAN WAS EXCELLENT. HIS WAITING TIME IS RIDICULOUS AND HIS PERSONALITY IS AS ROUGH AS THE WAITING TIME.
