Jiyeon E. Shin, MD

Dr. Shin is astute, compassionate, and competent.In a system hard on doctors (because it's designed by people who truly have no idea what pressures doctors live with, and often ties their hands from being able to provide the care they feel their patients need-the care we were trained to provide-), Dr. Shin is a shining light. She takes the time to explain and answer all questions patiently, yet it is a stress upon her, given that workflow and productivity allow no time for this NECESSARY interaction. Technology cannot stand in for human communication. She is able to provide that gentle compassionate interchange, which is a true blessing to find in anyone these days, let alone another MD. And when you are an MD yourself, it can be difficult to ask a provider to look at you as simply a patient, who doesn't have all the answers! I appreciate Dr. Shin's ability to do just that. Despite the fact that she is under considerable time constraints. Please know, that these time constraints take… a very large toll on MDs. Dr. Shin feels these costs, yet does the right thing by her patients-which is precisely why she is such a wonderful provider. I hope that the system will accommodate for all MDs much more in the future! It must change. The system will fail, if it doesn't protect its own. The system puts itself before its assets, and is not set up to furnish the care people NEED. I don't expect the system to care, but I remain in awe of those within it, like Dr. Shin, who still offer that care to the patients when it costs THEM so much. Please let her know how greatly appreciated she is.

I'm very impressed with Dr. Shin. I was hesitant to switch my OB care, but I'm really happy I decided to see Dr Shin. She's very kind and respectful and genuinely seems to have my best interest in mind. She displayed great insight (I thought) when she immediately picked up on the slight loss of function in my leg, dating back to childhood, as a contributing factor for early onset osteoporosis. Along with that, she recognized my lifelong condition heightens my awareness for situations where I might fall, thus possibly preventing a fall, but that doesn't mean zero falls. I just want to say again, how insightful! I completely agree with her I've just never had a provider recognize that connection so clearly and immediately.

Dr Shin is an excellent Ob/Gyn! She resolved my medical problems that at least 5 other providers could not that has been persistent for many years. . She is very knowledgeable & listens to her patients! I will be recommending Dr Shin to my friends! Thank you for all you do Dr Shin!

After years of nagging pain and 4 different doctors who dismiss my complaint, Dr Shin finally addressed my problem. I was in tears because finally I understand the root cause of the pain. Years of anxiety thinking that the pain is a more serious problem cause sleepless nights. Dr Shin asks the right questions, cared more, very methodical and her reasoning and assessment to come up with the diagnosis is spot on. She is kind, professional, and sympathetic to my condition.
