Dr. Laurence J Miller, MD

I flew to Mayo Clinic in search of answers, and what I received was the opposite. Dr. Miller spent a whole 10 minutes with me. He did not care to answer any questions (nor could he). He didn't care about finding an answer for me or any solutions. He did not want to run a single test. Instead he spent 10 minutes and told me to see a psychiatrist, as if I flew here because I am making things up and I enjoy being 99lbs and unable to digest food. He dismissed my doctors findings and reports. He told me not to take the medications I have been prescribed. He could care less about his patients. I am appalled that this is who Mayo Clinic has on staff. What a waste of money and time. I have never felt so insulted and ignored in my life.

I’m at 85 lb, can’t eat fighting for my life. The staff had me booked for a tele appt at home and I did everything correctly even called to make sure someone was going to reach out to me. 45 min later they said I was supposed to be at hospital when every single thing said tele and home appointment. The Dr decided not to see me for a total fault if their own. I’ll never forget how uncaring this staff was.

This "specialist" had no interest in hearing what I had to say, dismissed everything I tried to explain and is not interested in trying to help find a diagnosis if labs and diagnostic tests arent giving him the answers. He also completely threw out what my pcp recommended after my pcp read Dr. Millers dictation notes.

Great if you don't want a diagnosis, Dr. Willer has no interest in diagnosing patients or helping, when i try to explain my symptom to him, he was annoying by it.. he told me I need to get a family doctor to complain my symptom to.

Dr. Miller is a fine Dr., but he needs to retire. I have never felt so humiliated in all my life after my last.. with him. He told me I was "fixated" on my elevated pancreatic enzymes. I never new my enzymes were elevated till they told me, and that is why I had all the pain in my back. Then when he could not provide with me an answer on why my enzymes were elevated. He attacked my weight, I have an athletic build but did not fit into his "BMI" (I eat healthily and exercise) he then indicated I was a narcotic abuser (do not take narcotics) he told me that when I take narcotics that can cause the ducts to constrict...I had to tell him I don't take narcotics. My dr. does not even prescribe them, and when that did not pan out he indicted I was an alcoholic. He contradicted himself here, He told me nothing was wrong with my pancreases.. But I am always in pain, orange color stools, He then even asked if I smoked (it is clear and in my medical record I don't smoke) He never… have the prior facts from correct from the last visit. Then he asked me "what are you going to do now", I'm sure some other doctor will order other test for you" and indicated I was going to go to another dr. to get more procedures done. Like I enjoy having procedures that can be life threatening! If you just want to say you follow up with GI, from your Primary dr. Dr. Miller is your man......He over talks you and backs up incompetent care. He's a nice guy to just chat with, but if you want good care, get someone that has their head in the game and not thinking about retirement. Sad he works for the Mayo Clinic.

Simply put, Dr. Miller has no apparent interest in diagnosing patients or helping in any manner. If you need a routine procedure, he may help facilitate that. But if you're in excruciating pain, he'd rather dismiss it. This is a doctor who appears to be waiting to retire so that he no longer has to deal with patients. I'm actually in worse condition after this doctor's "care."
