Dr. Linda Yen Lebourgeois, MD

Every negative comment here is pretty accurate to my experience today. New patient. Telling her my symptom history, she was getting visibly impatient. She didn't want to listen to a potential diagnosis. Just happy to keep me on my meds. X condition = Y medication. I want treatment. I want options. I want to get off the medication if possible, and I believe an attempt is justifiable. I didn't even have a chance to express that. Pretty argumentative. The whole time she was inching toward the door, and pretty much just walked out. I left feeling very perturbed by the interaction.

She would not listen to me, refused to treat me, and left the room while I was trying to describe my symptoms. I went to another neurologist, got treatment, and it saved my life. At the age of 50 my central nervous system freaked out from a lifetime of moderate pain originating in congenital, moderate deformities of knees and hips, physical labor starting @ ten, organized sports in high school, chronic lumbar pain @ 17, cervical injuries/moderate pain from 25, arthritic hips@ 35, continued athletic participation until age 45, and moderate–severe lumbar arthritis @ 50. Within one day I went from chronic moderate–severe back pain to severe, body wide phantom pain and muscle spasms. There was no "serious" injury, and since the pain was referred to other locations (in my face, arms, and legs) , I was shuttled from specialist to specialist. Though I did not tell anyone, not even the doctors I was seeing, I was hourly suicidal. I had violent muscle spasms, though they never… occurred in front of a physician, and probably appeared insane (The left side of my face was twisted a bit, "crowded," from muscle spasms.). I was sent to Dr. Lebourgeois for an evaluation for stroke and body wide pain. She evaluated me for stroke, and carpal tunnel. I did not have a stroke, and I have carpal tunnel, but don't care about it. Carpal tunnel is nothing compare to my other problems. She offered me treatment for carpal tunnel, and ran out of the room. After being sent to another specialist, I got a second referral to a neurologist. The second neurologist listened to my symptoms, and my history, and treated me. It wasn't that complicated. Dr. Lebrourgois didn't just make a bad decision. She couldn't be bothered to listen. She refused to even think about it. This was more than three years ago. It still rankles. I would be dead. Go see someone else.

Diagnosis prior to mri was spot on. Her urgency was my urgency for correction.

First visit doctor said condition sound like headaches. Asked me to chart my symptoms, so I did. At follow up, MD had not received medical chart for the second time, refused to review the charting of my symptoms as she suggested, and formed a medical opinion without a complete file. Lacks professionalism and knowledge.

They request you arrive a half-hour early and then on top of it she makes you wait another 45 minutes to only come in the room for 2 minutes to suggest a medication that is contraindicated for my condition. There are better, more experienced neurologists. Avoid Dr. Lebourgeois at all costs (she also has the audacity to bill 300+ for this 2 minutes!)

She does not listen to you. She does not want to spend more than five minutes in the room with you and makes that extremely apparent. Her knowledge base is limited, or at least I assumed so after she repeatedly said different variations of: "I just don't know. Maybe you should see someone else." In summary, your money could be better spent.
