Dr. Lyle Hurwitz, MD

My spouse was a former long time patient of Hurwitz and was highly recommended to another GI doctor. Went to have routine colonoscopy and new physician found very large mass in his intestine. The new physician showed us the photos taken during his procedure and pointed out a blue tattoo adjacent to it. He said that’s routine to mark a possible suspicious area to be closely watched. It was never mentioned. This mass had been growing for 5 years! He had part of his intestine removed, then got peritonitis followed by a large hernia that needed surgery. Is this the physician you want in charge of your health?

Dr. Hurwitz is an excellent doctor. He cares about his patients. He listens to your concerns. He takes the time to answer your questions and explains everthing to you.

I had a very good experience at his Wellington office. I’ve been a patient of Dr. Hurwitz for over 25 years, and I’ve never had any complaints with him or his staff. Highly recommend!

Approachable to discuss care. Great bed side manner.

Dr.Hurwitz is a competent, well trained physician with, from my experience, little interest in his patients. He is borderline rude and spends very little time with his patients. Read his reviews on other ratings sites and you will see mine is a common opinion. That practice is full of highly competent physicians with good patients skills. I respect all physicians but would not recommend Dr. H to anyone.

Dr. Hurwitz is one if a group of outstanding physicians. He really cares about his patients and is he very kind. I highly recommend him and all of his associates.

He forgot to tell us he tattooed a suspicious area and years later another doctor saw it.......next to a large mass. Three hospitalizations later, he is surviving.

I was a long time patient and I was having severe stomach pain. When I called for an appointment I was told 4-6 weeks. I then went to my family physician who said, “I’ll text him and have them call you sooner.” He never called. I finally was referred to another GI doctor and had an endoscopy within 2 days. All was relatively taken care of by this other physician. I just went to Dr. Hurwitz ‘s office a few weeks later, without an appointment and said I was having pain. When he saw me he just said “WHY WOULD YOU GO TO ANOTHER DOCTOR - THATS HOW I MAKE MY MONEY!” Then he rushed out of the room to call my family physician because he was angry that I went elsewhere.

My husband was a patient of Dr. Hurwitz for 15 years. He decided to go to another physician for his upcoming colonoscopy and the new physician detected a blue color tattoo in his colon, next to a large mass. The doctor stated that GI physicians use a tattoo to mark suspicious areas for the future. As Dr. Hurwitz neglected to tell us about a suspicious area my husband waited until his 5 year scheduled colonoscopy until the mass was discovered. About 6 months later we receive a recorded message, from Hurwitz’s office reminding him it’s time for a colonoscopy!

Very nice doctor, gentle and caring. Asked questions, seemed concerned, very easy and comfortable to talk to. I totally recommend him, in fact a few of my coworkers have gone to him with the same excellent results.
