Dr. Marcus Darrell Jennings

I came to Loudoun Medical Group after getting the repeated response of “use the CPAP”, in disregard to the CPAP not helping, from the first sleep doctor I saw. After bumping up my evaluation to an in-lab sleep study, where I got no better sleep than usual, Dr. Jennings told me “use the CPAP”. Because insomnia plays into my sleep issues I would sometimes pick up a book to read until I could go to sleep. I noted that the CPAP was registering APNEA events in the 20s and thirties while I am awake. Under 5 is considered a “correct” breathing rate. Dr Jennings’ understanding of why I am having APNEA while awake and reading is “bad sleep hygiene” ... by which I am supposed to understand what - that reading in bed causes APNEA?!!! Subsequently, of 5 people I found that have been prescribed a CPAP only one found benefit. Why is CPAP the only answer? Seems the insurance industry need to take a closer look at supporting the CPAP prescription. I have gotten more benefit from… changing my sleep position than I did using the CPAP.
