Amazingly talented surgeon and humble, compassionate person.

My daughter had a corneal laceration. She had surgery to repair it at the time. Dr. Bannit was the surgeon to later assess and possibly transplant her damaged cornea. He ended up not replacing the cornea. She will instead use a contact lens to hopefully improve her vision. Dr. Bannit was very compassionate and patient with my daughter. He kept us well informed of his thought process and plan the whole way. We are glad to have been referred to him.

My eye was on the verge of rupture from nodular scleritis with necrosis caused by Rheumatoid Arthritis when I came to UW Eye Institute. The UW Eye Institute changed my medication immediately to start the long process of arresting the disease in the eye and got me in for surgery at the earliest possible time to prevent sudden severe damage. Dr. Banitt was able to successfully patch my eye in its weakened condition and followed me monthly to observe the progress gently reassuring me every step of the way. He is always honest with what he saw, but careful not to alarm unnecessarily. Dr. Banitt recently performed cataract surgery and saw an additional area that needed reinforcement. He knew my anxiety about surgery and opted to repair the problem at that time. It is a decision I am very grateful for as now I do not have to wonder and worry. The value of his personal touch, quality care, and outstanding skill cannot be overstated. I feel so very fortunate to be in the care of such an… exceptional doctor - and person.
