I do not think bedside manner is of any importance. I really have no idea what it is. Dr. Hoki should not be judged on an attribute that is seen differently by each patient. I did not need "hand holding." Also "spends time with me" is an entirely subjective thing. Clearly Dr. Hoki spent time with me because she did an thorough examination of my eyes, scheduled the YAG laser treatment, and then performed it. Also I knew what the diagnosis would be before I was examined because the YAG treatment had been performed on my left eye abut 15 months earlier. These questions need reworking to fit different types of services. Last not all medical visits warrant a follow-up. For the YAG treatment I returned a week later for a careful examination to make sure my eye was OK. Yesterday, I saw a vascular surgeon. There will be no need for a follow-up of any sort. At age 84, my experience is that most medical visits do not require a follow-up. But your survey does not have an… "not applicable option." Time waiting should be noted as from the time of your appointment. I arrived 20 minutes before my appointment time because I was a new patient, but the time was unneeded because all my information is on file with Valley Medical, and I only needed to scan it to verify that it was correct. I was taken to the examination room within five minutes of my appointment time. That is the only time that should be judged.
