Dr. Nancy Jean Kaplitz, MD

Excellent experience

I highly recommend Dr Kaplitz for her knowledge and professionalism. I have seen her for years. She takes the time to explain things to her patients. Her staff has always been absolutely amazing and gone above and beyond to help me.

I am writing this review after an unfortunate experience with Dr. Kaplitz's office. My husband, Michael, and I recently moved back to Key West after being away for 4 years, living and working in NYC. My husband had a grand mal seizure on Saturday 1/28 after being seizure-free for 20 years. He is on seizure medications, and there were no provoking factors.We called Dr. Kaplitz's office right away and left several messages. (Dr. Kaplitz is one of only 2 Neurologists in the Florida Keys). Michael finally was able to get through to the office 3 days after his seizure. The office made no attempt to return his calls. Michael was told that they were going to make an appointment for him after they checked his insurance. Two days later they called Michael and told him that Dr. Kaplitz is no longer taking any new patients, since she is trying to limit her practice. I am a physician, have practiced medicine for more than 30 years, and am dumbfounde that this office would be so uncaring and… unconcerned about a potential patient. Although Michael has a doctorate degree in nursing, he was still very scared. They recommended that Michael drive to Miami (over 3 1/2 hours away) to see a Neurologist. I don't know or have ever met Dr. Kaplitz, but know that if she had seen Michael in her office it would have only taken a few minutes of her precious time. All Michael would need is a quick neuro exam, basic labs, adjustment to his seizure medication (which, as a physician, I ended up doing since no one would help him), and to be scheduled for an EEG and MRI. It's not brain surgery, doc. If you have any control at all over how your practice functions, you should feel very ashamed. Disappointed, David W. Forest, MD, ACOG

I do not recommend this doc I had several horrible experiences. She could never remember what she said from one appointment to the next even after being reminded. She refused to believe that she had sent me to another doctor for blood work, and adamantly denied it until I provided her with the paperwork for proof. She tried several times to fit some kind of ailment into my diagnosis that didn't exist. During the pandemic I called to make an appointment, she set up a ridiculous virtual office visit, that took two weeks to get, it lasted all of 5 minutes she charged me for it, and then said I would need to make a face to face visit, so that she could take my BP and that visit would be in two more weeks. so actually she did nothing in the virtual visit other than take my money. I told her that I was dissatisfied and would like my money back, she refused to respond and never refunded the money. She totally wasted my time. I called another doctor and got an appointment the very next day.

Good bedside manner and nice staff, BUT extremely difficult to have your call answered, always have to leave a voice message and not very good about returning calls. Unconcerned about the severity of my back pain. Had to go elsewhere.

Dr. Kaplitz is a great doctor who cares about her patients.

Dr Kaplitz is a great Neurologist. She's very thorough and spends a lot of time with her patients. I highly recommend Dr Kaplitz.
