Dr. Rebecca Joan Kurzon, MD

Office Mgr., Desiree, instructs staff to overcharge & completely disregards insurance co-pay guidelines. When FL Blue called to dispute the charges after the claim had been paid and Explanation of Benefits issued, she REFUSED to refund the $90 and said office policy was to charge no matter what the insurance co-pay schedule required and then AFTER the claim was paid by insurance, they would review and refund the $90 when she deemed and not before. When FL Blue called her, she was rude and refused to refund the $90 to me even though the claim had been processed 2 months earlier, and 6 months later, she REFUSES to refund the $90. I wanted to discuss with Dr. Kurzon, but Desiree insisted on ANOTHER $90 fee to see the doctor and discuss. If only the doctor was aware of how her staff is treating her patients, I am certain she would not abide by this dishonest treatment and pocketing of fees that were not due. I have been a patient of Dr. Kurzon's for at least 15 years, although since she… has moved during those years, my file had been lost and shows only a few years of history, per Desiree, who laughingly disputed my longevity as a patient. I have NEVER been treated so poorly as this office manager treats Dr. Kurzon's patients, and I cannot believe that the doctor knows this is happening. She did my cataract lens replacement and a blepharoplasty (different years). I have had excellent results and love her skill and demeanor.

I had my first visit planned with Dr. Kurzon and then due to work travel I needed to change my appointment. I also needed to be seen in the next two weeks due to insurance reasons. While Dr. Kurzon did not have an opening and she was leaving for vacation in the next few days, she squeezed me in at a time convenient to my schedule. I was seen on time and had a very pleasant experience. I'm grateful for this patient-centric health care practitioner - not many exist!

I have been going to Dr. Kurzon for a couple of years. She is very professional not real chatty, but she gives you the facts and alternatives & that is what I'm there for. Her techs and office staff have alwsys been helpful and professional. Wait may be 15-20 mins., but that is to be ecpected in a busy office.

I have been going here for years now; it all started from a serious dog scratch on my eye. I got my bf to start going here and even referred people in the past, but today that all changed. I have never cared enough about any situation to use up my free time to write a BAD review, but when I tell you this lady was rude, she was the worst example of how an employee should present themselves in a DOCTORS office. (Which is also why I found it necessary to be so detailed.) The most disappointing thing about the whole situation...? I'm NOT the first person to express their concerns over the rude, unprofessional, disrespectful front desk people at this office; there have been many before me, there will be many after me and unfortunately NOTHING is being done about it. Needless to say, and as I told the unprofessional lady over the phone, they have lost my business for good, I will no longer waste my time and money on a company like that AND I plan on leaving this review on any site I… can to help save people from making the same mistake. Long story short (more like short story long): Had an appt at 2:30 pm today. Which is the latest they have from what the lady told me when making the appt. I planned with my job to leave early to make it on time. OF COURSE we are all aware of I-4 (crashes/construction/ etc.) so before leaving work I checked the GPS and it said I would arrive by 2:40pm, clearly later than my appt start time. So I call to make them aware because I have worked in a doctors office before and considerate people make late appointments easier to deal with. Right off the back the female on the phone is just rude. Puts me on hold and comes back and says they are short staffed and need to reschedule me. So i asked, "Oh ok, so basically even if I showed up at exactly 2:30 pm you would have had to reschedule me anyway?" and rudely enough, she responds "well no, but you're telling me you plan on being late so yes we need to." I explained it was no plan of mind to not be on time which is why I was calling so soon before my actual appt to make them aware, it was a basic eye exam, nothing special. She goes on to say something along the lines of "Well you're saying that you won't make it here until 2:40 and that traffic could get worse so that means you'll be even later. so yes you need to reschedule." I told her that she probably could care less about what I had to say or what my situation was, but I let her know anyway how much I had to plan just to be able to leave work for this appt and that I was worried I wouldn't be able to do it again anytime soon. I was just trying to get her to lose the attitude and just see me as a human being that just needed a helpful, welcoming voice on the other end. ANYWAY, she continues being so rude that it actually started to distract me while driving, so I sat in silence for a few seconds and then basically made her aware of her rude condescending tone and how unprofessional she was being to me.

Dr. Kurzon treated me on an emergency because I was unable to see out of my left eye. The hospital emergency room would not have even known what to do for me. After a month of treatment, I got my vision back!

I loved my experience at Dr. Kurzon's office. The staff was caring and compassionate as well as experienced. The doctor explained my condition thoroughly and answered all my questions patiently. I will definitely go back!

I have seen Dr. Kurzon for years. Expert eye physician with the A1 credentials. I take my kids there also for the best case. Stand also very nice and get you in quick.

I have actually been doing to Dr. Kurzon's office for a few years now.  I have really bad dry eyes and have been having her put plugs in my tear ducts.  Had supposedly "permanent" ones but they never lasted more than 2 months.  Had her put temps in that wouldn't fall out but dissolve at 3 months.  Never lasted more than a month.  This last visit, I had my routine exam and spent most of the time with the tech and about 3-4 minutes with the doctor depending if I talked too much.  Mentioned I was thinking of switching to contacts.  Great, the tech said.  We will have you come back and set that up for you.  I scheduled the appointment.  Came for them to show me how to use the contacts and make sure they were the right prescription.  Never saw the doctor.  Went to check out and the staff member said ok, the insurance covers your exam today but not the contact fitting, which is $240!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I said, excuse me! I have never been to any doctor's office or even a dental office that if the… next appointment was going to cost me something more than normal co-pay, they have disclosed the amount up front.  Never would I have thought that a doctors office would think that it was ok to blindside a patient with not $45 or even under a $100, but $240 and think they shouldn't disclose this prior.  Needless to say I was furious, and the office manager came over rather quickly, as if this a usual occurrence and said yup you owe $240.  I said you are nuts to think you are right to blindside your patients with a cost to "show me how to put in the contacts". Heck if I had known, I would have just figured it out myself.  She said well its up to you to know your insurance.  I said, I do know my insurance and nowhere on my benefits does it say it will be $240 to have contacts fitted.  It says I pay $55 for standard fitting, and 90% of premium.  So how am I supposed to know if you will charge a standard fitting, which I expected or a premium fitting, unless you disclose that prior!?!?!?! The office manager was completely rude as well as the staff behind the desk.  When I was there on a previous another lady was having issues with her bill as well, and the staff member helping her said, I can't deal with her anymore and walked away, then the office manager was right there.  Seems to be a daily occurrence that patients are having problems with their bills.  Seems this practice knows what they are doing by blindsiding their patients with outrageously high expenses.  The worst part is Dr. Kurzon walked by and saw that I was upset and didn't even attempt to make it right.  In fact, ignored the fact that her "valued" patient was upset with the charges. No one in the office cares, nor do they value you.  I spoke with my insurance after the visit and come to find out.  They are supposed to bill either eye insurance or medical.  Well they were billing both of mine and just saying it happened on 2 different days.  So when my insurance told them to recuse the previous claim, they said ok but the patient will need to pay it.  My insurance said No, you are supposed to bill either/or, not both.  So now, being the professional office they are, will not send me my new prescription so I can take it elsewhere because I upset them off.  All they want is your money, however they can FRAUDELENT billing they can do they will!  BEWARE OF THIS DOCTOR AND HER STAFF!!!
