A frighting experience at this Office! One star since nothing lower! I stopped Dr Unger’s office yesterday 1/7/24 to make an appointment. Normal right? Wrong! The person in charge told me I could not make an appointment because I had made and cancelled 5 appointments back to back in 2015. I tried telling her that that was not accurate and they must have me mixed up with someone else. Well, I don’t know what nerve I hit , but she went after me like one wouldn’t believe. She humiliated me in front of others, she dehumanized me by insinuating I was a liar. It was awful! Her face turned red as she was screaming at me and I wondered if she was going to come out from behind the door and attack me! I have never in all my years been treated like this in a professional office Dr or any for that matter. She really became unglued! In a really offensive manner she basically thru me out by saying have a good day and cut off any conversation , but you could tell she didn’t mean it by the tone of… her voice. It was like, get out I am thru talking!(yelling) I left and today figured she felt bad and would apologize! So I called the office. WOW was that a mistake . She went right back where she left off! Yelling at me and paying no attention to the fact I was trying to inform her that I was innocent ! She finally just hung up on me after accusing me of badgering the office staff! Let’s be clear, it was not the office staff , but only her. She would not give me her name, but I am sure Dr Unger knows who she is. By some of the other reviews it sounds like this is a common issue at his office this has happened before. She really is a “psycho” and I urge Dr Unger to relieve her of her duties . I have been very shaken emotionally since yesterday to think I could be treated this way by a professional Dr office. All I wanted was some help and I am feeling worse than I did before I tried to get help. Honestly, I have never experienced anything like this ever. I was so upset and have a terrible headache because of her. I realize this is not Dr Unger , but he is responsible for his staff and this girl is dangerous. I have never had anyone yell and scream at me on the phone and hang up on me and all I was doing was trying to explain their records are incorrect. But, even worst case and I am wrong, to humiliate and treat a patient like that in a public office and yell and scream on the phone - then hang up - is disgraceful! She owes me an apology big time. I will obviously never return to an office that has a “maniac” working there whose behavior is frightening!! Too bad! I like Dr Unger and think he is a good Dr. But he needs to rid himself of an unstable “wild woman” Robert J Carper

Don't count on office staff to be honest when it comes to appointments. They will charge you for a missed appointment even when you did not miss it.

I saw Dr. Unger while I was at the hospital because he was the one that was on call. It took him 3 days to figure out what the problem was. I ended up going to him because I was referred to him by the hospital. He was okay at first, but my last appointment, I was charged $109 and some change for my co-payment when it’s usually $54 and some change. I can’t afford to pay this much every time I go there and noted this on the bill when I sent my payment in. I got a text reminding me about my appointment on Saturday, so I called the answering service to cancel. They didn’t relay the message. I got a recorded call on Monday reminding me of my appointment, so I ended up having to call them. Obviously, they didn’t even bother reading my note, they just want their money. Their staff in incompetent as all get out. Dr. Unger didn’t even look at the papers that I filled out at the last appointment I went to last time. Unfortunately, I started smoking again and I noted that on the papers, my notes… I received from the visit stated that I’m a non-smoker. Why did I even complete the paperwork. Don’t think I will be going back to him again.

Dr. Unger always takes the time to listen, encourage and educate his patients. He is knowledgeable and a good communicator. The staff is always professional, respectful and caring. I highly recommend Neurology Institute of Melbourne.

The patient with all the complaints scared me...as I too am asked to look into his expensive treatments, MS was a consideration of my symptoms (although now not a concern), and yes, the office staff not the friendliest at times...but I think they are overwhelmed with so many patients angry with the long waits...and appointments no available for months. Are they over-booking or taking on too many patients? But as we are still working through my issues, overall, Dr. Unger is friendly and thougheral, and I think does various testing trying to find answers....not about the money!

This doctor will run every test available, push for you to try his radiant heat probe to help ease back pain at $250/treatment, never discuss a definitive diagnosis or treatment plan, suggest that he continue testing for MS, delay evaluation of tests for months, only to finally call and refer you to an oncologist for possible cancer, I could go on and on. If you need a good neurologist - head to Boston!

For all my previous visits I have liked the Dr. very much (courteous, professional, and knowledgeable). This review is NOT about the Dr., but my last office visit's LONG wait time and inconsiderate and rude staff/office manager. I left work (staff meeting with customer early) 3:15 (missing pay) for a 3:45 appt. I was 10 minutes early. My time is VERY valuable too! No one ever called me or said they were running behind or late or how long it would be. I waited to 4:00, 4:15 then 4:30. At 4:45 I walked up to the receptionist counter to notify them I had a 6:00 apt. I had to be at and would have to re-schedule. VERY gruff response "was I was going in right now!" I said no I couldn't and the arguing ensued about how inconsiderate it was to make me wait all that time without keeping me informed as to how much longer it would be. She claimed she told me they were running behind but never heard that from her and certainly she never said anything about an HOUR LATE. NEVER once let me know… about how much longer it would be or what was going on or when I was to go in. Regardless......She said I would be billed anyway and I chuckled and said that was fine and would not pay it anyway, like I was already billed for a smoking cessation treatment that I NEVER had! (Fraudulent billing)! Patients WATCH YOUR BILLS! I WILL let my insurance carrier know! Bottom line is they should try to accommodate the customer/patient and NOT be the generals of the office that can do or say no wrong. Sad, the Dr. needs to know what's going on out front so I will let him know about my experience or it won't ever change. I am considering send a bill to their office for the 2 hours of my life I wasted!

Never had a problem. I think he is a good doctor, good reputation.
