Dr. Robert Stephen Dienes JR., MD

I didn't choose Dr. Dienes. He was the anesthesiologist the day of my surgery.I spoke with him when I had my pre-opand both stated and put in writing my desire to not be put under. He absolutely refused. He stated he "didn't want to deal with me screaming in pain and need to put me out later". I spoke to another anesthesiologist who promised 3 choices. Day of surgery, Dr. Dienes denied that conversation ever took place and told me I was going under. I requested light sedation and he responded with "No." "Heavy sedation."The sedation was so heavy that I slept the remainder of day of surgery, the following day and much of the third day.Now, Monday after Friday morning surgeryI am still groggy and light-headed. No problems at all from my procedure, a D&C.All this sleeping and fatigue were totally unnecessary and would not have happened had he listened. I had a hernia repair 1 1/2 years ago and was alert after. So why???? All I can think of isless effort for the doctor, more control and… more $$. If you have a choice, request another anesthesiologist! I won't use him again unless it's an emergency and no one else is available.
