Dr. Drigan D Wieder, MD

Dr Weider performed an arthroscopy on my left knee. He found significant cartilage damage on the patella, and decided to do microfracture on the area. I did not consent to this procedure, and it has an extremely low success rate in this area - in fact, it has decreased the bone quality of my patella, potentially raising issues in the future. I would advise anyone looking for expert knee care to steer clear of him, and Boulder Center for Orthopedics in general (I've gotten poor advice from a number of the orthopedists there).

I expected a little more attention and a lot less pain (based on what he told me to expect). I can't recommend him strongly, but maybe this is what to expect after a knee replacement.

Dr. Wieder did not do a good job of keeping me informed of what was going on with my condition. After surgery, he told me he had performed some microfracturing, a procedure we had not discussed previously. He gave me no further instructions, and would not answer questions I asked immediately following the surgery ("you'll forget this anyways"). Seems competent, but poor bedside manner. I am switching doctors for the rest of my treatment.

Dr. Weider was patient and thorough and seemed very knowledgeable. I felt like he really cares about his patients. Patient and friendly.

He has done two surgeries on me - a shoulder and knee - He did a GREAT job. He is wonderful to work with - very caring and explains everything. I highly recommend him

I blew out several things on my left knee skiing one too many moguls. Was doing some PT, but knew something was very wrong after 4+ weeks. Took a while to get my MRI done, but I liked Dr. Weider's opinions and I opted to only fix my meniscus and hold off on ACL surgery. Surgery was easy, recovery time quick and I am doing just about everything I was before, but know I have limitations. I would highly recommend and I personally really liked Sandy, his office assistant as well. She always called to confirm appointments. MRI took a while to get done, but I think that was just a paperwork issue. Overall a great experience and I have been "under the knife" several times before.

Love Dr. Wieder, HATE the head nurse/assistant Sandy. Sandy almost made me not want to go back but then I remembered that she was not the one cutting into my knee. But if Dr. Wieder was not so good, I would have gone elsewhere. He did surgery on both knees about 10 years apart & he did a great job on both. Oh, and be prepared to wait for over an hour for each appointment. For as anal & controlling as Sandy, she has not the slightest idea of how to run an office & time management (& bedside manner).

Best orthopedic doc I have ever been to (and I've seen my share). He has a great bedside manner, good sense of humor, and spent lots of time explaining ACL surgery options to me when I had to have this done some years ago. He even agreed to my desire to use cadaver tissue before it had gained widespread acceptance. He's the only doc I'd see, if could still get appointments with him!

He is very good at what he does. My arthroscopic knee surgery to remove part of my meniscus went very well. I would totally recommend him to others.
