Dr. Dushyant Jagdish Utamsingh, MD

Dr Utamsingh is treating my mother, who is a resident in the memory care wing of an assisted living facility. I reached out to him via fax regarding her prescriptions. He responded in an aggressively defensive manner, insinuating that I was deficient in the care of my mother, while simultaneously getting my mother's medical history completely wrong. Rudeness combined with incompetence is an unacceptable combination in my opinion. I would suggest avoiding him and his practice if at all possible.

I saw him on a first visit a few days ago with chief complaint of fatigue. I am not going to go into too many details, but bottom line is he did not address it, and was very disrespectful to me. He had bloodwork taken which he stated would diagnose issue. It did not, and then he wanted medical records sent alleging that sleep apnea testing was incorrect, and/or CPAP machine was not functioning properly. This is armchair science. In point of fact CPAP machine is working fine, had been looked at previously. For him to assume that tech did not do testing correctly is arrogant-in point of fact I had test done two years ago and was fine until a few months ago. When confronted with the fact that authorization request was duplicated in the chart, and that there was no need to sign it twice, he replied that his attorneys wanted him to do this, and "next thing they are going to ask you how often you fart, when you fart, whether the fart smells, and that you have to know the French National… Anthem by heart". I had to call twice regarding the fatigue, and although I had told him I was having bariatric surgery in Sept for weight, he told the Medical Asst "Tell him to lose weight'. This physician totally lacks empathy, and his comment was pejorative and insulting considering I had already told him of my plans for treatment. He dodged his own lack of knowledge regarding the issue by wanting documentation and making armchair assertions without evidence confirming same. As somebody who investigated negligent physicians for the NYS Medical Board for 15 years, I have seen similar issues with physicians who are arrogant and disrespectful towards patients, and if I can now make an armchair assumption, who is probably fed up with his work. It shows in how he treated me. Finally, although I gave him the names of all physicians, he neglected to put one of them down, and once again I was asked to provide the info again. I am looking for another physician, and suggest you pass this one by. Thank you for reading.

Dr. Utamsingh is a wonderful person and a great professional. He takes time with me, answers my questions clearly and is very thorough. He is very caring and understanding, and everything about him shows his love for what he does and his care for his patients. He is a great psychologyst too!

Dr. Utamsingh is very caring,asks many questions and listens carefully, he takes his time examining thoroughly, explains in plain language what needs to be done, and has all the patience in the world. He is very accurate in his diagnosis and his staff follows up right away with results. Two weeks ago was in the emergency room and all the hospital personnel had very nice words about him.Thank you, Dr. U. !

I have been a patient of Dr. Utamsingh for many years. He is kind, compassionate and cares about me as a Patient. He is a no nonsense MD with practical advice. I would recommend him

My family of 4 have been seeing Dr. U for about 10 years. Excellent physician, spends time with us, explains his actions and his treatment in plain language, does not push extra tests and is a believer of meds only when needed.

i am a nurse, so i can see how people are. he took care of my father. the best. followed him for a heart rhythm, made sure he had the right medications, followed up with the cardiologist and the electrophysiologist, checked his blood when needed, words fail me. the best!!

very good in diagnosis. the cardiologist felt it was heart, he said it was my gall bladder. it was my gall bladder, i had it removed and am better. my stress test was normal.

He has a wonderful warm personality and he made my young children feel very comfortable in the office. Many adult physicians are not patient with young children. He was sweet and patient.

Very friendly guy, funny, great jokes, but I came to see a doctor not a comedian. Physical diagnosis skills are poor at best, I really think he faked listening to my lungs and heart. Barely took a history and his advice was to do more of what ive already been doing when I told him that he said to do more of it. I looked up the diagnosis he gave and it was a pretty mild condition. I went to another doc for a second look and got an accurate diagnosis with a more serious condition and the right meds, scary!. I came to two conclusions, either he doesnt care or lacks the knowledge to diagnose properly, hopefully the latter.
