I was thought to be "doctor shopping" and "medication seeking" despite my faxed paperwork of a documented diagnosis, previous doctor visits, and long term prescription to medication. Regardless of the medical documentation to support everything and my efforts to explain, the doctor ordered a drug analysis of my urine, without my knowledge, and refused to write me a prescription for the medication I had been prescribed for the past 6 years. I attempted to explain that I was a recent student who relocated to 4 different cities at varying lengths of time due to schooling and internships. He was not receptive to me, nor did he ask questions, only made untrue accusations and inferences. He then followed with an informative lecture on how the younger generation expects pills to be the answer, and with certain behavior, I could end up with a heart problem. He then took bloodwork, again without explanation, and made efforts to find a potential problem unrelated to my reason for visiting. I was… slapped with the bill of all the unauthorized and unnecessary laboratory work. I simply scheduled the visit to transition to a new and long term primary doctor, due to my new permanent relocation with my first job. (update: all my labwork was clear, as expected, I refused payment on the labwork portion of my bill and I have recently found a new primary care physician who can provide me holistic, ongoing and appropriate care)
