Dr. Eduardo Raul Locatelli, MD

Ok so I've sat here and read every one of these comments By many very Foolish people I started seeing Dr. Locatelli in 1999 at the Cleveland clinic in Fort Lauderdale Llorida i went to him after seeing countless neurlogists for Epilepsy i was one roughly 5 different seizure pills 2 of them being controled substances for seizures (phenobarbitol & Kolonipin) within less then 1 year he had me down to one pill twice a day, 2 years thereafter he walked me through 3 brain surgeries in which the first one was a lil rough as i ended up with an infection and the surgeon said lets watch it for 1 year, from day 1 doctor Locatelli said to me go to Cleveland ohio as the surgeon was one of the best if not the best in the nation and both worked with him but instead of telling me to see the one who worked in his office (which i insisted on) he instead told me to go out of state and my insurance would of covored it. behind my infection i did go to the Cleveland clinic in Cleveland ohio and… and the infecton was handled my left bone flap was removed and i was on iv antibiotics for a month at home a few months later i went back to Cleveland and had my left bone flap replaced and for months on end he personally called me at home every day like clock work to see how i was i did after my first surgery have a seizure which foolishly i stopped my meds as i was still on one pill a day but the goal was to see if i could live seizure free and once again i did not listen to the good doctor after my final surgery i went 8 years without having a seizure (Which was in 2012) i have since had 4 more but i tell you i went from having as many as 5 a day to having 5 since febuary 2014 Dr. Locatelli has done nothing but give me the best medical care any doctor ever has to this day (i no longer see him due to moving out of state) i email him if a doctor tries to change my meds for any reason at all weather for seizures blood pressure or anything i email him and ask him what he thinks i then without him knowing email my primary care doctor who happens to also be an infectious disease doctor and every time they have both told me to do the same exact thing weather it agrees with the doctor up here in tn or not and i do what they say instead of my doctors here i put all my faith into doctor locatelli when it comes to my medical decesions i have sent countless patients to the good doctor and not one of them ever had one bad thing to say to me every one of the people i have sent his way i have known for years so they would tell me if their experiences were bad unless you consider a man who takes time to listen to his patients , make them a part of their treatment instead of dictating their treatment to them and genuinely cares for his patients and has an excellent front office staff Nurse and emu (Epilepsy monitoring unit) a bad doctor i feel for you as you will never find yourself better My Sincere sadness extends to you all, and my utmost gratitude to you Dr. Locatelli for being the doctor and man you are, Ray Harrington

This Dr. is pretty worthless given that I am no better than when I saw him a few years ago.

Dr Locatelli. Is the best neurologist He is very kind he listens to what you have to say he is one-of-a-kind and I appreciate him

The doctor said he keeps his analysis simple for epilepsy. He only looks at the summary page from the EEG. This is dangerous given that the EEG fairly large "error bars" he should be looking at the actual to make convincing diagnosis. Also he apparently has not heard of the use of a PET scan to determine to location in the brain causing seizures (Goggle PET pet epilepsy)

Yes, the error associated with EEG data can be fairly large, therefore, if the data only deviates from normal behavior slightly these measurements can likely be assumed to by normal. The person should probably have the EEG done again or have one of the more modern methods use (see on google taking EEG at home). You can also search Google for "accuracy of EEG measurements" but the most relevant references will science papers. I would also like to add that it is typical for a doctor that has EEG data suggesting that the patient has epilepsy (the patient likely had a seizure during the EEG measurement) to use a PET scan to pinpoint the area of the brain causing the seizures. That way the next steps, drug selection, can be improved. (see Google PET scan and epilepsy) . PET scan can also help the doctor decide if surgery would help the patient with uncontrolled seizures.

Dr. Locatelli has a very simple minded approach to diagnosis. He said himself "I only look at EEG to make decision." Wait he didn't, he only looks at the summary page and not the actual data. I had request data, look over myself and also gave to another neurologist. Both the other neurologist and me had the same conclusion; there was only a very slight deviation from normal. This could explained easily with just a lack of good sleep. Had mentioned the affect of sleep on the eeg to Locatelli and he said "I don't care about that..." Searching the Internet for opinions of other doctors; they all had the view of the eeg in making a diagnosis. The eeg is just one piece of data that need to be considered when making an epilepsy diagnosis or other problems related to brain function. The last thing, when talking to another neurologist amount Locatelli's comment "I don't care about sleep..." was that while he was at Harvard they would refer to doctors like him as "specialist of… the wallet."

I was referred to dr Locatelli by my neurologist when I decided I wanted to try to start a family. I was concerned because I have a seizure disorder and take medication for my condition. Dr Locatelli ordered the appropriate tests and assured me that I needed to continue my medication and that it is safe to try to conceive while taking it. He is very knowledgable and his bedside manner is wonderful. His office staff is also terrific and uses technology well to simplify things in the office. When I told dr Locatelli that I was going to be moving out of state, he made sure that I had a prescription to last me until I could find a new neurologist and told me that I could call his office if I needed further help. I had an overall great experience with this doctor and office!
