Horrible Surgeon

If I could give him a zero rating I would. I fell about three weeks ago and hurt my left thigh and right knee. My knee never got better. After seeing my regular doctor and having an MRI, it was determined that I had a partial tear in my meniscus, a partial tear in a ligament, a cyst, and arthritis. They referred me to orthopedics. I chose a doctor, was told she was only a trauma doctor, and sent me to Dr. McDonough. The nurses were friendly. He basically said the partial tear was nothing and suggested I have bariatric surgery. He kept talking about my weight. I told him I knew I was overweight and knew that was all he was going to focus on instead of the extreme pain in my knee. I broke down and cried. He really didn’t care. When I said he was just going to talk about my weight, he basically said he didn’t say that. He said he would refer me to a dietician. Finally, he gave me a cortisone shot when I told him I needed to be able to walk. He needs to only wait on patients who are not… overweight. I felt humiliated. He put on my chart we discussed knee pain and being morbidly obese. I would not refer him to anyone. He took x-rays even though I just had them about a week ago which means more money out of my pocket.

Very poor bedside manners! I believe he did more harm than good! I was release to go back to work without fully being able to raise my arm. I was told that’s life deal with it! Wouldn’t answer any questions! I had to have a second surgery and had it done at another hospital by a better doctor I would not recommend Dr McDonough to anyone the worse service I’ve ever got!

I would highly recommend Dr. McDonough. He was very professional and covered all bases very well. Very prompt getting an appointment. Scheduled surgery right away. Took great care of me afterwards.

Only ran me through ROM, didn't even touch my shoulder or arm for physical examination

Doctor McDonough and his staff are very professional and really have your best interest at Heart. His work is out of this world
