I felt he was in a hurry and did not have time for me despite waiting for an hour. He was borderline rude. Will not return and do not recommend

Dr Rashid did my cataract surgery. I'm going to outline the whole process for those who may be needing cataract surgery for the first time and want to know what to expect. He saw me at his Fredericksburg Rd office, I got an appointment as a new patient, within 2 weeks. The staff went over the whole process of the surgery with me and the surgery was performed at his Huebner Surgical Clinic. Dr Rashid explained to me that since I'd had Lasik about 20 years ago, that results for me could be a bit unpredictable. He recommended an implant for my astigmatism ($2200, they do take credit cards), which I accepted. He gave me plenty of time to ask questions. The staff went over in detail with me the eye drops I would need, starting 2 days before the surgery. They gave me an eye drop chart, and called in the 3 eye drop prescriptions, which cost $50 total (with my insurance.) Be prepared for a lot of eye drops post-op. I had 2 eye drops 3 times a day and a third eye drop 4 times a day, for… 2 weeks after the surgery. My surgery was scheduled for 1:30 pm but we actually went into surgery at 3:30 (2 hours late). The anesthesiologist, Dr Shish, was great. He made sure I was completely comfortable through the procedure. The staff at the clinic was great, too. When I left at 4:45 pm, they gave me sunglasses and I had an eye shield over my eye. They told me I could take off the shield in 6 hours, but to replace it when I went to bed that night for protection. I felt a little tired, like after any long day, but not bad. Went to eat (since I hadn't been able to eat or drink anything since 6 am) I had an appointment to see Dr Rashid the next day (24 hours later) and after testing, he determined my eye pressure was elevated. He adjusted that and told me to come in the next day for a recheck of that pressure, and to take more eye drops. It was fine the next day, so he scheduled me for a 2 week appointment. Everything went fine on the 2 week appointment. I have been very near sighted my entire life. After Lasik 20 years ago, I used "cheaters" for reading and close work. My final results after my cataract surgery is: I no longer need glasses for close work at all. I do need a mild prescription for driving. You must have someone drive you to the surgery, stay at the clinic through the procedure, drive you home, and also drive you to your appointment the next day. At that time, the Dr may clear you for driving. At every step of the way, every single person I encountered was friendly, polite and professional. I was very pleased with my experience and will not hesitate to recommend Dr Rashid to anyone who asks.

I was scheduled for surgery on 27. Amy calls me on thanksgiving morning. Canceled surgery be cause Dr Rashid believed the receptionist that said I cussed her. TOTALLY lie. I had contract signed for fees. Someone called from surgery center said was 300 more. & that I signed contract for 1066. But I had signed contract for 755. I did dispute charges & ask to talk to Amy. Amy explained the new charges to me. I said ok thank you. That will be fine to Amy. I understand. Next thing I know. My surgery was cancelled. Amy told me the receptionist said I used profanity to her. I was not happy at the time. But I assure you no cussing. I’m a Christian. I practice & study daily. I may do a lot of things wrong but cussing is one thing I don’t do. I even spell a cuss word if I repeat to someone what someone else says. I won’t watch movies with cussing. This is totally not my character. She lied on the wrong person. Cuz anyone that knows me laughs at me for being so anal retentive toward so many… things. This is total defamation of character.

I visited this doctor and made the mistake of asking a few technical questions about his experience and the procedure. He got so offended that he refused to proceed with me further. The first duty of the doctor is to empathize with the patient and provide clear answers. Surgery is a business like any other and patients are not stupid as the doctors would like them to be. I have been researching my condition for the past 4 years and wanted to make sure I have the correct doctor with the right experience who can help me post surgery as well. Apparently just being a doctor to the SPURS is good enough for this doctor. If one is a good doctor, they should not be so insecure.

I thank you Dr. Rashid for taking the time to check my friend's eyes before his glaucoma surgery. It was very reassuring to him to hear it from you that he was in good hands with his surgeon. You answered all his concerns and put him at ease. I apreciate your skill and kindness and sincerity I have been your patient for 15 years and you did lasik on myself, my wife and my son. God bless,
