Dr. Edward Dale Szmuc

I really like how for every appointment during my pregnancy I got to see and ask many questions to the actual DR, and not the nurses. Sometimes I'd feel like I asked him too many questions, but he replied to all of them with no rush. He really cares for his patients! The staff are very nice and approachable. The one thing I did not like about this clinic was that the waiting area is extremely small! There's probably 10 chairs! The best time to schedule appointments are early in the morning when it's not packed! There is a small restroom in the waiting area I felt uncomfortable using it because the waiting area is so small filled with patients and the restroom is just right there in front. So literally are eyes are on you when you go in and go out. The waiting area is unpleasant

Dr. Szmuc may be okay for a routine pregnancy, but anyone who needs extra care should look elsewhere. He uses outdated medical standards. He refused to prescribe medication for my thyroid until my perinatologist insisted. He chalked up both of my prior pregnancy losses as likely genetic problems, even though I am in my 20s and both of the losses were late term. I finally dropped him and switched to the perinatologist, who immediately had me tested for blood clotting problems. I tested borderline for Protein S Deficiency. If Dr. Szmuc had been in charge, I'm sure he would have said my results were within the "normal range" just like he said about the thyroid, and my son would have died. Instead, my perinatologist got me on blood thinners and saved my son's life. Who cares if a doctor sends you flowers when they blow off your medical problems??? I'll let my husband send me the flowers, and look to my doctor for medical care.

His diagnosis, after a minute and a half examination? "You're just too fat." My REAL diagnosis, after an examination by a more competent doctor? "Ovarian cancer." Do not trust this man with your life or your baby's life.

Dr. Szmucis wonderful! He is friendly, professional, explains procedures to you in a manner you can understand, and he doesn't seem to be in a hurry to gt out of the exam room. All of my questions were answered and, compared to so many of the chain doctor's offices out there, he's a breath of fresh air! I now refer all my friends to him!

Dr. Szmuc is one of the best doctors I've ever had. He is very kind, gentle, explains things in ways I can understand, thorough and very knowledgeable. I would recommend him to my sister or my mother.

I'd say he is a pretty good Dr. although I won't be going to him again for my next pregnancy because he doesn't support vbacs. The lady that handles the insurance did a horrible job, which ended up costing me money. The nurses/assistants were always really friendly and the NP there is great. I usually try and have appointments with her because she is really easy to talk to.
