Dr. Eiko Furusawa, MD

Welcome to my Web page. I'm delighted to have this chance to introduce myself to you. I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to work for Kaiser Permanente since 1989. I have met many wonderful colleagues and patients and have developed some lifelong friendships.

Biography
I was born in Japan, however I left there when I was 6 months old when my family moved to Northern California. My father is a professor of pharmacology and did postgraduate work at Stanford University. When I was five, my father had the opportunity to transfer to Hawaii, where a new medical school was opening. Yes, Hawaii is a beautiful place to live and grow up. When I was in high school, I decided to follow in my father's footsteps and pursue a career in medicine. He has been a significant role model for me.

About my practice
Because I've worked for Kaiser Permanente for many years, I have had the special opportunity to follow my patients from when they were newborns up through their young …adulthood. Now, I am caring for second generations of families. This is very rewarding to me. I can touch people's lives so intimately and earn such trust to be able to care for a family's second generation.

How I thrive
Anyone who knows me understands that I'm an avid dog lover. I have four dogs, two of which have special needs. One is diabetic and gets insulin shots twice a day. He also has had cataract eye surgery and needs multiple eye drops to prevent glaucoma. So when I'm not practicing medicine at work, there are patients waiting for me at home. I love to cook and am addicted to watching the Food Network. I enjoy traveling and am a serious Angels fan.
