Dr. Elaine M Biester, MD

This was the most horrible medical staff and experience I've ever been through. It's both the Edwards Elmhurst facility and this doctor in particular. Luckily this was my second pregnancy so I knew roughly what should have been happening when, but if that was not the case then I'm not sure what would have happened. I had to essentially remind the doctor ever step of the way what I needed to have happen (shouldn't I have an ultrasound by now? don't you need to prescribe me something or do something about my gestational diabetes? etc). It was literally like having Google handle my pregnancy and the doctor was just there to sign the paperwork - IF she remembered to do so and IF she even bothered to do it accurately. Ultrasounds were months late, bloodwork just didn't happen, prescriptions never happened. If something could be pushed off to another specialist it was. On top of that the staff never had any clue what prescriptions I was already on, what my medical plan was. They have a… website for this, just look at the chart before the patient shows up yea? Never looked at it, never knew anything. I'd show up for appts and have to wait for up to an hour just to get in. Forget about ease of scheduling appts too, you basically know what appts you need for the first 6 months and should be able to do so in advance - they won't help you. You'll need to figure that out on your own (and have the foresight to do it). If you need an ad hoc appt? They'll be booked months out - and not bother to fit you in even if it's something you need done in that month of your pregnancy. Bathroom is always dirty, pee samples sit there and stack up. Final thoughts - I honestly feared for my babies life and switched delivery doctor at the last minute. Left them immediately following labor. I don't make reviews often, but will post this wherever I can about this doctor and this facility because it was just that awful and I don't want someone to go through this with their first pregnancy and not even realize all the things they are missing and should be doing because this lady didn't tell them.

I had medical concerns and issues and Beister was extremely inattentive to my needs, especially as a first-time mom. I researched her and decided to give her a try. I called her office when they open with medical concerns. I was reported to the hospital and diagnosed with something severe. If you are looking for a doctor to call you and bring comfort this is the wrong one. All day I was waiting to hear from her, no call. Not only that she never followed up on my lab results and/or looked over my health records to address a few concerns. I was in the air about when would be the next time I see her so I called her office, they then said I was overdue. Why don't you have your nurses call and say "hey we see you aren't on the schedule and overdue, the dr. would like to see you". NOTHING! I was very disturbed by her practices and not being an adequate OB/GYN. She called later in the day after all her appointments and bragged about her 25 years of experience and that she would not call me to… talk about everything and all the results. She bashed me for not having an appointment to see her when I simply said, " how am I supposed to know these things?" She sat there rudely saying "You need to see someone else!" Never apologized about her miscommunication. Never apologized for the traumatic that I went through that day and what I was diagnosed with. I would not suggest her on my richest day. I pay her thousands of dollars to be what a doctor should be. I wanted to gain trust with her and communicate efficiently so I could be reassured not to worry. I will never return to her and if you are looking for a close and quaint relationship with your doctor she is not it. Nothing is urgent to her and I suggest you start off with Dr. Acharya instead. Trust me I am young and to experience this treatment I literally cried. I would never and have never talked down upon her but this is where I think everyone should draw the line.

I just went to see Dr. Biester today for a check up and conserns about me skiping my period for over 3 months straight. All Dr. Beister can tell me was that i was fat and needed to loose weight. Then she went on on judging me on trying to conceive being fat. She refused to do any bloodwork or check up because she said all my problems were comming because i was fat and that i should see it as a blessing that i can't have children because im fat and i guess fat people should not have children. I will never go back to this doctor and advise anybody reading this review not to waiste your time going to her unless your skiny maybe she will be considerate of you.

Dr. Biester does not do all she can for her patients. She promises follow up that she does not give. If you plan on going to her for any kind of procedure do your homework FIRST! She will only share the pro's with you, you'll find out the con's the hard way. Don't waste your time going to this doctor, or her office.

Dr. Biester did not serve me well. First of all, though I complained of extreme pain during sex, as well as other problems that should have been red flags, she didn't recognize the problem or advise me to see a specialist. Another doctor finally understood the problem, got me the right diagnosis and to the right specialist.Then I went to see Dr. Biester, with a recent diagnosis that would have restricted my use of birth control. She didn't break the news gently and she didn't take the time to explain my other options. I was very upset about this news particularly because I didn't think other birth control methods would work for me because of the problem above. I left her office in tears and decided that I needed to find another doctor. She seemed like a very nice person and it is of course possible that she will get along well with women who like a more direct bedside manner. I am sorry to offer a negative review, I don't like doing it. But I really feel that I have to put this… story forward.

I was very unhappy with my only visit to Dr. Biester. First, I had to wait 50 past my sheduled appointment. When she did finally arrive, she spent less than 10 minutes with me. When I asked about the problem I'd been having, she said that it "was probably a hormone imbalance" and she left the room. I definitely won't be seeing her again.

Dr. Biester was wonderful. She made me feel comfortable. She's very caring and took time to answer all my question.

I like Dr. Biester but I found the waiting time a little long.She does have a great bedside manner - is very caring and understanding. However, I found I typically had to do my own research and coax her on recommendations on my next steps in trying to diagnose my condition. This was frustrating to say the least.
