Dr. Elana Lehman Sheldon, MD

Dr. Sheldon is a fantastic doctor! I had been suffering with debilitating headaches and odd pains for well over a year when I finally went to see her. It took one visit for her to diagnose the relatively rare facial pain disorder that had been plaguing me. Life changing! Both my husband and I highly recommend her. The front office and nursing staff are wonderful as well.

I have been seeing Dr. Sheldon for a number of years and she is the best doctor I have had in a long time. She is easy to communicate with and I feel like she has taken time to get to know me and remembers what any past issues I have been. She always personally follows up with me and shows concern and is willing to refer me if I think I need tests or something checked out. I agree that she is very high energy and sometimes I get caught up in that, but it is not necessarily a bad thing. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a doctor in Pasadena.

Trying to follow doctor's advice resulting in feeling worse than ever and no improvement from lab results. The worst experience in calling to ask a question about using a prescribed medication. No one returned the call, and the staff sounded stressed out and rushed the call. Another time, called to have a refill ordered. The pharmacy did not receive the order, even though later I asked the staff about it, only to have them state that the order was called. Calling the pharmacy again, verified the pharmacy did not receive the order.

After losing our PPO insurance after my husband became seriously ill and having to purchase our own insurance through our small business, we went to Dr. Sheldon listed as a Health Net doctor. We soon noticed a big drop in the quality of our care.She misdiagnosed my illness and I believe actually caused me to become more ill and I wound up in urgent care after my visits with her on three occasions to get the care that should have come from her. The final straw was when I went in to see her because I had an infection and needed relief, but she told me I was wrong, she said I didn't have an infection, (and had her nurse give me a flu shot)but her office called a few days later to tell me... guess what? I Did have an infection after all.(How funny is that?) Because she had told me that I didn't have an infection, I thought it would be ok to take the shot, I became so ill, my condition became so much worse .. because you're not supposed to take a flu shot when you're sick.. then… prescribed antibiotics which on top of the flu shot and infection caused me to shake for a week. When I called her office for advice when I became so ill that it was scarey, she called back and told me off ..said she "didn't know what else she could do for me." She is horrible, and took no responsibility for her awful care. She doesn't listen .. she mostly jumps to quick conclusions and therefore misses a lot. She's like an exposed nerve, a bundle of nervous energy that causes her to jump around and focuses primarily on her computer screen, she forgets what she told you on previous visits and contradicts herself a lot ..you have to work hard to keep her focused on what you need and why you came in. She'll call you "honey" and "sweetie," and can "act" personable like she cares, but who needs a condescending "honey?"... we all need a good doctor and it definitely ain't Sheldon in my opinion....And never get sick on any day she doesn't work (Friday) because if she has to be contacted, she gets really snipy with you and is very, very nasty, (that's if she bothers to call you back, she usually has an office person relay a message from her), She's a Great Doctor if you have a hang nail, don't ask questions or cause her to feel inconvenienced in any way!

Each time I saw her she was nice, but rushed - very high energy, just wished she could have quietly listened instead of always looking at charts, and rustling papers...
