I came to Dr. Ratner with a complex case of huge non-standard growth in uterus (as became apparent only during surgery). Not only was she able to safely remove it, preventing a catastrophic scenario, but she also successfully stitched my uterus back together so I could continue with my planned fertility path. But what makes her an extraordinary doctor is not just her superior surgical skills, but her huge heart. I could barely believe the level of care and attention I received - I was treated like a close friend, not 1 out of 1000 patients of whose existence she just learned a few days ago; this made a world of difference to me during a difficult time. (And beyond my surgery, she also inspired me for my future path). It’s scary to think what could have happened if I went to a different surgeon.

We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Elena Ratner, Dr. Emily Christison-Lagay, Dr. Pashankar, for their tremendous help and support for our daughter. Our 12-year-old girl was admitted to Yale on February 14, 2024, in an emergency, feeling extremely bloated and weak. After emergency surgeries to drain the fluid and collect biopsies, we received the diagnosis of stage 4 ovarian cancer. The team was incredibly careful and delicate, yet proactive in initiating immediate chemotherapy, which lasted for 12 weeks. Throughout this time, the entire team was in constant communication, providing full transparency and support whenever needed. The final surgery was scheduled for early June, and the team conducted multiple calls to review alternative options and paths to ensure the best outcome, with a focus on preserving our daughter's ovaries and overall health. Fortunately, the treatment was so effective that a laparoscopic surgery was performed instead of the initially discussed… open surgery, leading to a very fast recovery. Dr. Ratner is not only a gifted surgeon but possesses an amazing level of genuine compassion and care for the well-being of her patients. Dr. Ratner was recommended to me by a patient and I am so grateful for the recommendation and happy I chose her to treat my ovarian cancer. I had a giant 14cm complex ovarian cyst and needed surgery as soon as possible. Dr. Ratner understood the time sensitive nature of the condition and treated me like family - she ordered and reviewed an MRI early and even set aside surgery time in advance. She is a renowned expert in her field (she came highly recommended by others in the medical field) and was able to remove a giant half-foot mass thru a small incision via laparoscopic surgery without rupturing it. She is truly the best.

On Christmas Eve I had surgery with Dr. Ratner to remove a large uterine fibroid tumor. The goal of this surgery was to preserve my uterus and give my wife and I the best possible chance to have a baby using my womb. From the moment I met Dr. Ratner, she put me and my wife at ease. Her confidence was comforting. She actively listened to me and my list of questions and truly cared about my concerns and goals for my family. When I had more questions after my consult with her, she had me come in to discuss in person, face to face, until I was entirely comfortable moving forward with the surgery. My incision is tiny and this was not a laparoscopic surgery. I'm simply blown away with how she removed such a large tumor thru such a small incision, but again, the goal was to preserve my uterus and make it the optimum condition for insemination and she made sure she did her crucial part impeccably. I cannot wait to inform her when I'm pregnant as I know my chances were slim to none with… our her involvement. Amazing surgeon, incredible person.

Dr Ratner performed a complete hysterectomy on me and the entire process from my first visit to my post op appointment was professional, caring and exuded a calm confidence that put me at ease. She is a gem! I feel fortunate that she was my physician.

Dr. Ratner was the best! It was recommended that I have a hysterectomy because of pre-cancer cells present. Having already decided that my husband and I were done having children it was a no brainier! Dr. Ratner explained everything to me through the whole process. I went into surgery anticipating 5 incisions (I chose to have the laparoscopic robotic surgery for faster recovery time), when I saw my 4 incisions I was shocked how she could get my uterus out of incisions so small! It's been 10 months since my surgery and I'm feeling great! I would recommend her to everyone!

I was referred to Dr Ratner by my normal Ob/gyn as a 2nd opinion. Dr Ratner was unprofessional with terrible bedside manner. First, I waited in the exam room for 15-20 minutes before seeing a doctor. Before the doctor came in the room, I could hear her chatting with the nurses outside the door about other patients. During my exam, she told me I had a life-threatening disease as if I had already known - when I was completely shocked she said "oh, um.....well we'll run a test and let you know the results, but that's what I'm seeing". She then told me their office would reach out within a week with my results and her recommendations. Also, the bathroom in the facility was not working - toilet would not flush which is kind of important sanitation for an ob/gyn facility. I never heard about my results and her recommendations for next steps - I had to call the office over 2 weeks later asking for a follow up. That's when they told me the tests came back NEGATIVE for the diagnosis Dr… Ratner had confidently given me during the exam and told me everything was fine. The next I heard from them was a bill for an extremely high amount for my appointment. When I called the office in shock of the sticker amount, they realized they forgot to submit my claim through the insurance on file and had billed me for the full amount. I also filed feedback similar to the above (with more personal details) I will not be going back to Dr Ratner and will discourage friends and family from seeing her as well.
