He earned his medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine & Dentistry. Dr. Dakwar then completed his neurological surgery residency at the University of South Florida and his pediatric spinal deformity fellowship at the Shriners Hospital for Children in Philadelphia. Dr. Dakwar is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the Join Spine Section AANS/CNS and the North American Spine Society.
