Dr. Elie Abed, MD

Dr. Abed seems to be very knowledgeable in his field of endocrinology and I'm sure he's a very intelligent man. If there's one thing I could point out I would say that initially, upon meeting the patient and sitting down, he might then stop, and focus all of his attention directly on the patient by listening intently to what the person is saying and trying to convey about their own condition and the concerns they are having. I really think Dr Abed quickly studies the chart, before seeing the patient, and makes his diagnosis before entering the exam room and having a conversation. This can work in a lot of cases but something that's very very important can be missed by not listening fully to the patient and answering all of his or her questions.

This doctor has terrible bed side manners. He was rude and made me feel terrible. He lacked compassion and empathy. I am only giving 1 star because I had to put at least one. In my personal opinion, he does not deserve any.

I found Dr. Abed to be caring and patient with my questions. I will see him again.

I was referred to OK Heart Institute for an endocrinologist- I got this guy. He did not review all of my information before the appointment, only looked at my last TSH. I was sent for 1 lab test - TSH. This shows no concern or interest in finding out why I am still having issues after not having a thyroid for years. He did not even know I didn’t have one until I informed him for the 2nd time - the 1st time was in the paperwork I had to fill out prior to my appointment. I’ll be switching to a new endocrinologist once my test comes back.

I was impressed with Dr. Abed. Answered my questions, had looked over My chart before he came in. Was thorough, and very smart and up to date On what would help me at this point.

dr. Abed, working at Oklahoma Health Institute at the time I’m writing this review, does not care about the health and well-being of the patient. He is centered only on the numbers on the chart/ lab work rather than the way the patient feels either physically or mentally. The straw that broke the camels back for me is that he didn’t like the numbers coming back on my thyroid labs, so I sent me for A thyroid scan. The scan came back looking absolutely great with no evidence of the disorder he had preemptively diagnosed, but he put me on a medication to treat anyway. Again, I had no signs or symptoms whatsoever of any thyroid disorder but he put me on medication for it. This medication greatly worsened conditions I was already diagnosed with. When I explain to him that the medication was causing ill affect and I no understanding of a need to take the medication, he said, “well, we have to treat it. Your lab numbers look bad.“ He is, along with an unsafe physician, a condescending and… disrespectful person.
