Dr. Elliott A Schulman, MD

I've been under Dr Schulman's care for several years and he has turned out to be one of the most caring and considerate doctors I've ever had. I was a bit put off at our first meeting because I wasn't sure if he was seriously listening to my questions and concerns regarding his recommendations for my treatment. Even with my objections, he stuck to his guns about what he thought was the best way to proceed. Since he came highly recommended from someone I really trusted, I thought I'd give him another chance - and I'm so glad I did! What I interpreted as gruffness in our first visit turned out to be focus, concentration and intensity. In subsequent visits I came to realize that he was observing me very closely and constantly taking mental notes in order to figure me out. He doesn't make much small talk but he is intensely present during my appointments and I know he is picking up on things that I am not even aware of. He may be an "old fashioned" doctor, but it's in all the… best ways!

When I first met with Dr. Schulman, I was experiencing migraines that were lasting 2 weeks, resulting in multiple trips to ER to break them. He was the third Neurologist to take a crack at my pain. At our initial consultation, he was very detailed and focused in his interview. I left, questioning if he was too gruff for me. In desperation, I placed my trust in him, and found that he is very compassionate, kind, and talented. I am now migraine free (about 99%). He is responsible for giving me a quality of life, free of pain! Trust him. He is THE BEST!!

My son is coming up on three years headache free no thanks to Dr. Schulman who dropped him as a patient when a neurosurgeon suggested he had Chiari Malformation and needed surgery. Thank God we went with the Neurosurgeon instead of him, my son would still be sitting in the basement in the dark! and now he has on his profile that he is a Chairi Specialist...denying my son had it must have made him a specialist.

It's his way or no way. I was diagnosed by a Neurosurgeon and he flat out dropped me as a patient. Told me it was either him or the neurosurgeon. Thank god I chose the neurosurgeon instead of him! Never met a more arrogant doctor!!

I have to say I have been suffering from an illness that seems to be mocking ms and I suffer everyday from pain,vision blurry, headaches , I have fallen several times as my legs just give out on me I get pain and electrical type pain in my legs and neck when I lean my neck forward n so much more and this Doc is the worst by far that I've seen at this point for the last 6 months. He trying to associate sexual abuse n depression with my illness not only that but as in sitting in his office he starts talking into his voice recorder summing up our conversation and I'm listening to him saying things like patient complains of burning up her arms and patient lost confines several times u the past 6 months and he said patient complained of mood swings and I was in total disbelief because i I never said any of that I had to keep correcting him for reporting statements that never happened. He seemed to be slightly confused I was suspicious of his mental health and weather he is fit to be… diagnosing patients if he can't even get their medical history straight. I left there crying knowing this doc won't be helping me anytime soon. I'll tell you I know I'm not depressed and yes I was molested as a child but got over it m live a pretty good happy life up until I got sick but still keep a smile on my face. I do not think sexual abuse or depression is my problem. I know I'm sick physically I've never been so sick in my life. No doubt it was a big mistake going to him he didn't even seem I treat in what I've gone through the past 6 months he was real focused on my headache n loss of vision primarily Never again!!!!

I have to agree with other reviewers. Pass on this Physician. His is condescending and more interesting in telling you he is the MDiety that knows best than in answering questions about treatment options.

Since moving to FL several years ago, I have never forgotten the excellent care received from Dr. Schulman back in PA for the many years of ongoing problems with migraines. I have never met a more caring MD who I have trusted and felt truly understood what I was going through without ever juding me and with much patience. He helped me through some uncomfortable and frustrating times with much compassion and care.

I have to agree with the other reviewers. This doctor went straight for the easy out for migraine treatment and went right for the really strong sometimes dangerous meds without trying or discussing the possibility of any other treatments. Scary.

I suffer from migraines which is extremely frustrating. It is even more frustrating to wait for an appointment with neurologist only to find out that he is wasting my time. As the other reviewer said this doctor is very limited in his knowledge or maybe just rude like the other said and is unwilling to discuss treatments. He may think that you are suppose to blindly do what he says without explaining himself or he really only knows about the 5 or 6 prescriptions that any migraine suffer knows about.

This doctor does not really know his domain. He only seems to know what prescriptions he wants to write. I had great success with Migrelief, but he didn't know if Feverfew was ok to take with pregnancy. He didn't know and didn't care to talk about natural supplements that actually were working. I was amazed natural suppleents helped me, as I suffer a few times a week from migraines. He wanted to hear nothing of it and didn't want to discuss. I also notice that my neck can be a trigger while I am sleeping but could talk about possible solutions for this. He had no advice on anything that was an RX. He told me that I was depressed and kept asking if I had an eating disorder, which both couldn't be further from the truth. My family laughed when I told them his diagnosis. He is uncapable of thinking outside of what he wants to do. I think it has been a long time since he has read any advancements in his speciality. I would highly suggest going to a different neurologist or down to… the Jefferson center. He wasted my money and made all of our insurance premiums go up for nothing.
