Dr. Elliott N. Schwartz, MD

After seeing many endocrinologist who knew very little about Osteoporosis, some of them even less than me, I was very impressed with his in depth first encounter with me. He took a great deal of time and effort with me. I had to fill out an extensive questionnaire before I saw him. And he asked very good questions, trying things together for me and we spent a lot of time going over my history he wanted to know in detail what’s been going on with my osteoporosis. He also did an examination of my spine. No other doctor has even looked at my spine and I’m talking about just touching it from the outside. I appreciate all he’s done for the community. I’m looking forward to going back to him for my return visit to discuss the findings of the extensive tests he requested for me. Only drawback, you have to be persistent in trying to get through the first time. It took me several weeks to be able to get through to the front office to ask for an appointment.

I was followed by Dr. Schwartz for over 10 years for osteoporosis. He was always very meticulous, knowledgable and professional. He made sure I understood all aspects of my condition and what I could do to help myself. Dr. Schwartz is on the cutting edge of osteoporosis evaluation and treatment. He helped me to regain bone density when all of my previous doctors had no clue as to what to do to stop my steady and continuous bone loss. Because he spends so much time with each patient he sometimes runs behind on his appointment schedule, so you have to wait. Regardless of the wait, I always appreciated the fact that Dr. S. made me feel that I am the most important patient in the world when he was with me.

I have been seeing Elliott for more than 2 decades. I would not be alive today were he not my doctor. He is a supurb diagnostician, is very thorough, and both he and his staff are very personable.

Extremely professional while remaining personal. Cares very much about every patient. Patty in the front is exceptional...

Dr. Schwartz is wonderful, extremely knowledgeable. Patty, his wife, runs the office and creates a chill in the space. Not particularly approachable. So, reluctantly I must move on after years. And his office does not take Blue Cross/Blue Shield..visit is too expensive. God, I wish he would hire outside the family. She is gatekeeper for him but the chilliness is painful. Asking questions always feels like an imposition. But I like his brain very much!

I wish all my doctors were so intelligent, curious and well-informed. Although I go to Dr. Schwartz for osteoporosis, he is more involved with all my medical issues than anyone else. He explains everything thoroughly and never rushes. Cosequently, there is usually a wait but I know to expect it and that when it is my turn I will have his complete attention as long as necessary.

Dr Schwartz is a good doctor but Patty, his nurse/receptionist, is horrible. It wouldn't seem hard to ask a patient to wait for the doctor or show them to the waiting room, but she is so rude that it makes the whole visit unpleasant. And don't try to call her - she is worse on the phone. One time she was so impolite to me that I started to wonder if I had offended her - but then I observed her hostility towards another patient and concluded that she is just ill-tempered - or maybe burned out. Even other doctors offices have admitted to me that they can't stand dealing with her! The problem is that she is Dr Schwartz's wife. I'm sure that she would have been fired years ago under any other circumstance. Too bad, because I like Dr Schwartz - but its really not worth dealing with Patti to see him.
