Dr. Emma Banaag Avilla, MD

I was impressed by the doctor's warmth and caring. She was thorough and took the time to try to educate me. She had a sense of humor and explained what she was doing. She also demonstrated what she wanted me to do. I would definitely recommend her to my friends.

Good doctor but not great..the problem with her office is when they give you an appointment but you will end up seating down for at least 2-3hrs...which I find it ridiculous. I wound recommend for you to check other OB providers first before thinking of going to Dr.Avilla. trust me on this...or try it for yourself.

Parking is so small and its obvious that the workers park there because there's no parking at all. There's about 5 parking stalls. I had an appointment at 2PM which I scheduled three months in advanced and I waited for almost 2 hours after the second hour almost came I didn't wanna waste my time so I asked for my insurance card and ID and the two girls at the desk just stared. These girls at the office were the most rudest girls I've ever met. This is the first time I ever felt so unwelcomed and disrespected at a doctors office. Service desk was awful. Parking was awful. The wait was awful. There was spilled brown stains on the floor, disgusting. Never going back ever.

I was refered to this doctor by my PCP when I first got pregnant. She was the worst doctor I ever came across. She doesn't care about the patients, she just cares about the money. The day I first met her, she did my pap smear, cultures, and everything else. She accused me of not taking care of myself because I waited until I was 6 months pregnant before I started getting prenatal care. I told her I never had any insurance until now and she told me well you still should of came in. She is a filipino and I'm half filipino myself. So she thinks it's appropiate to talk to her nurses in front of me in a laungague I don't understand and assuming that I do. As we talked about any concerns I had, it felt as if they weren't concerning enough for the doctor. She made feel as if I was asking the most outrageous, and stupid questions ever. She quickly ran through them one by one giving me an additude. My boyfriend was with me in the room and she was being so rude to him. Saying that he now has to… be responsible for us and what not. Every visit I had, it felt that she was just trying to get through the day and as if I was a patient that burdened her time at work.The day I gave birth, she was very inpatient about it. Wondering how come it was taking me so long to contract. So after she broke my water, she left the hospital and went home. The next morning she was there bright and early to deliver my baby. As I was in labor she was getting so fustrated at me because she thought I wasn't pushing hard enough. Turn to find out why he wouldn't come out was because his shoulders was a little to wide and his umbilocord was wrapped around his sholder. A few months later I kept going back to her because my bleeding wouldn't stop. It's like a day a period everyday for 3 months. So she kept telling me that MIGHT be your period, when that was the same diagonese she told me last time few times I went to see her. I honestly doubt that she knew what was happening to me and she didn't care as if I was so much lower then she was.When my son was about 6 to 8 months old, I went in for another appt. and I took him with me. I brought him in his carrier and I sat it on the chair with him unstrapped. The nurse who took my vitals said I had to move to another room. I was going to bring my baby with me but she said because I was just getting the deppo shot that she would watch him for me. I trusted her. She I left her with my baby and as I walked out of the room that I was moved to, I heard him fall on the floor and he started to cry. (the floor that they had was concrete tiles, and he had fallen out of his carrier which was sitting on the chair.)So the nurse that was suppose to be watching him said oh u should off strapped him in. Yes it was my fault that he wasn't strapped in, but the way he was lying on the floor didn't look like he feel out of his carrier, I think she dropped him and accused me not making sure he was safe. On top of all that, she gave me her word that she would watch him, so regardless of where he was or how he was positioned she left him in the room alone! If she was there then nothing would have happened in the first place.

5 years ago i was referred by my pcp to dr. avilla. avilla then performed a pap smear on me and called me 5 days later and stated over the phone that i tested positive with genital herpes. she had me take valtrex and scheduled me for a routine exam 6 months later. behind closed doors she said i smelled fishy so she prescribed me ointment for bacterial vaginosis. as she walked me out of the room, while she swung the door open, she said to me out loud "make sure you use protection, you don't want to infect your partner" - mind you, the waiting room was full and the usual wait time before she see's her patient is about 30-40 minutes. i've waited for her for about an hour once. i was SO embarrassed. i got dirty stares from the patients in the waiting room. i just wanted to put a paper bag over my head.a month later, i had found out i was pregnant. i called her office to make an appointment and they were booked one month out.my friends referred me to another gyno. when i seen him, he… performed every single possible test to confirm if i had genital herpes or any other std's. he was baffled. i was 100% CLEAN.i never confronted her about this, but i know i should soon.i do not recommend this doctor to anyone.

I would definitely NOT recommend Dr. Avilla to anyone. Her office assistants are a piece of work: always have attitude and forget to follow-up with paperwork, appointments, faxing documents, etc. The time spent waiting just to get in the office is about an hour, then probably another half an hour once you're in there. After all that waiting, she'll spend about 10 minutes with you. My last straw (which is why I'm currently searching for a new provider): I have told Dr during each visit (twice a year) for the past 2 years that I have been having problems with bleeding. She comes up with all these "diagnostic guesses" and then brushes it off, and never once sent me for further questioning or testing. It's my fault I've waited this long, but enough is enough. I care more about my life than to let her shrug off something that could be more serious.

Although she seems uncaring doc is pretty good. The problem in her office is the three nurses/ receptionist that greet / or rather lack of greetings. They are rude, talk amongst themselves(ignoring patients) and dont seem to be able to schedule correctly. If you are scheduled for appt give yourself two hours leeway. HAVE alot of PATIENCE!!!
