Dr. Eric James Dahl, DO

I requested to speak with Dr Dahl as I was being told i was getting discharged even as I told the nurse that I still could not stand up straight and I was in pretty much the same amount of abdominal pain that I had when I came in. The doctor that saw me initially had left for the day and I was told my chart would be forwarded to Dr Dahl. The day shift nurse comes in trying to discharge me. I told her I was waiting on the day shift doctor because I was not well enough to go home, I could not stand up straight due to pain. The nurse tells me Dr Dahl reviewed my chart and authorized my discharge without setting eyes on me. I asked to speak with him. He dominated the conversation pretty much standing at the door, he said to me and I quote “ if you are telling me that I need to give you more IV pain drugs to make you feel better then you need to be admitted “. I had not said one word at this time. I reminded him that I had not requested any IV drugs from him but wanted to know the plan… for my continued abdominal pain other than early discharge and possibly returning to the ED later. I equally reminded him that I have been in an ED in over 20 years. It took me telling him that I am a health care provider myself for him to tone down, speak to me like a human being and offer to order something for pain for me. Of interest when I told the nurse I could not stand up straight to walk she told me she could bring a wheelchair to get me out the door but that’s all she can do because the doctor has discharged me. People like this nurse and Dr Dahl take away from healthcare and I would not wish their treatment on any one. They both need education in compassion and customer service, even in humanity. Very disappointing.

This was the worst experience I've ever had with a doctor and that's saying a lot. He spent all of 23 seconds with me, cut me off and didn't allow questions, and treated me like I was worthless. I was referred to the emergency room by another Ohio Health facility, yet he treated me as if I was an idiot for coming in. I filed a complaint with the hospital, but Ohio Health doesn't seem to care either. Never again will I trust anyone in Ohio Health with my care. Never again will I ever allow Eric Dahl to be in the same room as I am.
