Dr. Erick Avelar, MD

My previous cardiologist seemed clueless about my heart condition, but Dr. Avelar was right on it. He is brilliant and I am very happy that finally I have the right doctor.

I do not trust his medical opinion. After my first stress test he was convinced I had a heart problem but then later did a total 180 and said everything was normal. Who knows whether he missed something. You cannot question him on anything. After I caught him in a blatant lie and made his staff aware of it, he dismissed me from his practice. Very unpleasant to talk to. No real concern for your well being, no interest in your symptoms or history. To top it all off he disbelieves that a family member had a heart attack. He didn't seem to believe anything else I had to say either, and obviously didn't do his research or look into my case enough to verify what I told him. Very lackadaisical attitude and lack of ethics.

Dr. Avelar replaced my retiring cardiologist, and took a good - very thorough - review of my past experiences. The intensity and depth of his initial "look see" was very gratifying, and I believe he obtained a clear understanding of his new patient. A high level of competence was certainly evident and appreciated!!!
