Dr. Forrest Swan JR., MD

After a colleague left the practice , my mom became Dr. Swans patient. At first it was just the several hours of wait time & small mistakes, but it wasn't long til it was obvious that he'd forgotten what type of cancer she had and he made vital mistakes, causing many hospital stays. I think what hurt the most is that he would never give a straight answer to any questions. We wanted to love how positive he was at first, but UVA set us straight. We felt blinded. After my mom had her entire stomach removed & lower part of her esophagus, the mistakes he & his nurses made were beyond scary. My mom prayed for him daily & during the middle of the night, I'm the dark I watched him, broken as he sat & cry at my moms bedside begging for forgiveness. She told she forgave him, but that he had more patients than he could handle & he fully agreed. As she told him he needed to rest more & take care of himself too, he looked at me & mouthed I'm so sorry. If we would have known more or if mistakes… so large weren't made, she wouldn't have suffered so badly. The largest mistake was when he begged to have His Hospice care take over. I wouldn't wish that Hospice care to my worst enemy. The came at most once a week, providing me with everything I needed to care for her, including bags of her liquid pain med & even the batteries for the pain pump & yes I had the key. I needed them to help me care for her, I voiced it over & over. I'll Never forgive him or his company for the pain he's caused our family to witness & go through all alone. I now work at an Oncology/Hematology office for a different company & I'll never let any of my pts or their families suffer the way she & our family did.

I worked with Dr. Swan for over 3 years. He truly cares about each of his patients as well as the staff. He has a heart of gold and is most knowledgeable in his field.

Dr Swan completely cured my husband's Collen cancer.I just wish he was still here.I just know my husband would still be with me today.

His personality is questionable. He does not do things properly which creates problems.

Dr Swan is in Hawaii for 1 year and I saw him for the first time today. He was amazing. I saw him right away and he spent an hour with me going over my records and educating me about my cancer and blood tests. I really feel like he cares about me and my future. I've seen several oncologists over the last two years and I put him on the top of the list of doctors. I'm very happy.

Sat in this doctors office for 6 hours waiting on my appointment...do not go to him. Takes way too long.

Dr. Swan is so kind and thorough with my routine exams. He is never rushed and I feel like I can ask as many questions as I need to. He does regular labs which makes me feel like he does care and would catch any thing out of order in time to correct it. Sends me for tests when he thinks there is a problem. I usually do have a long wait but it's worth waiting knowing I will get a good checkup.

He is pleasant enough and has a personable manner. Not responsive to several attempts to communicate when I recently had concerns about a pneumonia. Exam was moderately thorough. He continued the monthly hematology studies with follow-up by two different nurse practitioners.
