Dr. Gary Man Lam, MD

I was referred to Dr. Lam by my orthopedist in Dec. 2010 for pain in upper thighs of both legs. He diagnosed my condition as stenosis of the spine and recommended surgery. I had a 8 hour surgery in Dec. 2010 that did not stop the pain. I had a 2 hour surgery by him in Jan. 2011. Same results. The first surgery included 6 screws in my spine and fusing two vertebrae. I was left with the pain and now have a drop foot of left foot, and numbness and weakness in both lower legs. After the surgeries, I went to the internet and discovered that many others had the same results of back surgery that were caused by reaction to statin drugs. My GP suggested stopping taking statins for a month. Twenty seven days later the pain stopped, but the leg weakness continued. The doctor suggested taking a statin every other day instead of daily. I started and within 2 days the pain resumed. Before such surgery, the surgeons should ask if patient is taking statin before moving to surgery. … Learn from my experience.

I am so grateful to dr. Lam for taking on me as a patient to help me fix my neck that wasn't properly completed the first time he made me feel so comfortable and confident that he could fix it I'm heading for surgery with him soon and I'm feeling positive that my outcome will be great wish I would have gotten him the first time around I thank God I was sent to him now

Dr Gary Lam has great bedside manners and knows his stuff, he is a surgeon who only does the most uninvasive surgery possible and goes by what each individual needs as far as surgery goes. My surgery went very well and my pain was reversed significally! I can exercise, walk swim without pain! I came in, barely walking. I am 68 and had a speedy recovery. He is my Hero!

I feel he did a great job with my back surgery, which my back had a lot of bad things going on. I would choose him again if I needed to.

I had a discectomy by another surgeon a year and a half ago. I was still in major pain. I was walking with a limp and a cane. I also had four steroidal spinal injections with no relief. I was referred to Dr. Lam and was immediately impressed with his bedside manner and how thorough he was. He discussed all my options with me and answered all of my questions. Per my research he even chose the best route of surgery for me even though it required another surgeon. Dr. Lam is by far one of the most professional and caring surgeon's I have ever met. His office staff is very professional and his Medical Assistant Jill is exemplary. I want to thank Dr. Lam from the bottom of my heart. I was afraid that my life was going to consist of chronic pain. I am 6 weeks post op and I have only the usual post op pain left which is minimal. The chronic pain is gone. I am able to go back to work in three weeks. I can walk normal again and support my family again as a Registered Nurse. Dr. Lam is an… exceptional surgeon and I would recommend him to even my most loved ones.

The office personnel were cheerful and very nice. Wait time was minimal. The Dr. was very informative and professional, and I felt very confident in his work. Would not hesitate to recommend.
