Bad bedside manner, bad ethics, bad results. A year and a half later and another surgeon has to fix what he Schmidt did wrong.

Dr. Schmidt is a kind and conscientious surgeon. He was my last hope. I suffer from Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy and as such I have suffered with severe chronic nerve pain. Dr. Schmidt did my fifth surgery. He carefully placed a spinal stimulator after fighting through scar tissue from my previous surgeries. His informed consent was through and he was patient and kind as he spoke of what would be required. He did a great job and made sure I did not suffer. I highly recommend him.

I am 26 and had a herniated disc compressing my spinal cord. I went to another surgeon And he was not confident to preform the surgery because of the placement and the severity of it. I was sent to Pittsburgh and was under the care of Dr. Schmidt. From the start Dr Schmidt answered all my questions and made my wife and I comfortable. The surgery went fantastic and the limited pain after was impressive. Dr Schmidt visited me every morning at the hospital and the next dr visit 2 weeks later he showed patience when I had several questions for him. He is a fantastic dr and I would recommend him to anyone who needs spinal surgery! He truly cares for his patients!

Dr. Schmidt operated on my back (L4/L5) about 5 years ago. Before then, I had years of severe pain, which prevented me from even walking correctly. Since the surgery, I have had no back issues what-so-ever, and am truly thankful for Dr. Schmidt give me my life back!---I found him to be very friendly, personable, and he acted as if he really cared about my condition; working to make it better. Would absolutely recommend anyone to see Dr. Schmidt if they are experiencing back trouble.

Dr. Schmidt replaced the broken Titanium hardware in my back with Vanadium steel to hopefully keep me off the operating table in the future. Everything went well, I am healed after a couple months using the torso brace and now I am rebuilding my core muscles and moving on with my life. I do not anticipate any future hardware problems but if I do I will seek Dr. Schmidt.

Dr. Schmidt operated on my L4-5 about 5 years ago. He worked at Western Maryland Health System for a short time, luckily, he was here when I needed my surgery. His attention to detail is unmatched! He was so concerned about cutting down the middle of my dolphin tattoo on my back. My pain had been so bad for so long, I honestly didn't care, but when he stitched me up, he was very careful so as to leave as unnoticeable a scar as possible. I was extremely impressed with the care he gave me. My pain was debilitating for 20 years. Since the operation, I have been pain free. It has been wonderful living the past 5 years without any pain. He is simply wonderful.
