Dr. Gary Guangping Shi, MD

I thought I was going to like this doctor. But, when I asked him to repeat what he said, he was visibly upset with me which shoot me up a little. I asked the person that I took with me into appointment if she noticed anything weird about the visit. She said "yes', he was mad because you asked him to repeat what he said. When I had my bone marrow test...I was asked to take my pants down by his nurse but she didn't say how far. I was on my stomach doing my best to relax. All of a sudden the doctor 'jerked' my pants down lower without saying a word which startled me and upset me. He had me have to PET Scans within six month. I've seen two other oncologist and was told by both of the doctors that there was no reason to have two PET Scan within that time frame. I had some insurance billing problems which 'I had to figured out', before that happened I had to pay the amount they said my insurance wouldn't pay before I could see the doctor. I asked about the refund and was told I… probably wouldn't get it back and I didn't. On the good side...The staff was friendly and the office is clean. I never had to wait to long to see the doctor.

I first came to Dr. Shi as a referral from my GP after changing from Kaiser to Blue Cross. I have Cll and Dr. Shi did not "just accept" my treatment plan from Kaiser. He ran several tests to confirm my current condition that gave him a baseline for my current treatment. He can be very direct and to the point (which I like) but also has a personal touch. We have discussed, and he has shown concern, for my overall health and well being. Not sure at all why there are two very negative reviews. I found Dr. Shi to be very professional and knowledgeable on my cancer. The staff is always very nice, helpful and when I'v called gave me the information I needed quickly. Without reservation I highly recommend Dr. Shi if you are looking for a new Dr.

Those first two reviews on this doctor must have been written by Dr. Shi himself because they are so far from the truth it's not even funny. It's especially not funny because he is dictating the wellbeing of peoples lives and doing a terrible job. Do yourself a favor and find another doctor, it will save your life. Countless others didn't have to suffer....

This Doctor is horrible. Doesn't listen to the patient. Condescending, Gives people horrible advice. I wouldn't be suprised to find out that he has hurt more people than he has helped.

Dr Shi is very patient focused and not part of a large group that he has to answer to He was trained at MD Anderson so he's very knowledgeable in hematology. I saw him at his new office in Folsom

I brought my Mother in to see Dr. Shi. She was nervous because she was switching Doctors. I cannot tell you hw comfortable he made her feel. He answered all of her questions,and listened to her thoughts. My Mom has cancer and sometimes she feels really down, but Dr. Shi made her feel like she had a life worth living. I can't thank him enough!! : )
