Dr. Converse has the best bedside manner! He diagnosed and treated my daughters sinus infection, so that she felt better the next day! Highly recommend!!

I was referred to Dr. Converse last year by my primary care physician. I had to wait quite a while for an appointment as he's fairly booked up. After my appointment and a CT scan, he recommended surgery. We talked about pros and cons and decided on the balloon sinuplasty. It is a 45 minute procedure that he performs in office. My deductible for the year was 100% paid and my co-insurance was almost 100% paid. According to my husband's work "we have the Cadillac plan, the best plan they offer". Dr. Converse's office "estimated" that they would bill insurance $10,000 for the procedure. The procedure went fine, but I did throw up for almost 24 hours after from the anesthesia. Fast forward to a few weeks later when I received my bill. Dr. Converse's office billed my insurance $49,151.52 for the 45 minute procedure. I honestly have no words besides "HIGHWAY ROBBERY". I called Dr. Converse's billing department and they told me "they just bill insurance for whatever the MAXIMUM amount they… possibly can for EVERY procedure" (Gee, wonder why health insurance is so expensive... Hmmm.) To put this in perspective, I've had 2 children via C-Sections. The TOTAL bill for each child (keep in mind, in HOSPITAL, major surgeries, 24/7 care for 2 humans for almost 5 days) was $20,000-24,000 total. To the depths of my soul, I do not understand how you bill $49,151 for a 45 minute IN OFFICE procedure. OHHHH and wait that doesn't include anesthesia, that's a separate bill. My insurance paid out almost 10k of that, and they billed me for $1100 additional, and the rest was "adjusted down per insurance rates". So here's the best part. Usually, post-op appointments are covered under a 90 day global CST charge, so you don't have to pay for your surgery follow ups during the 90 days post-op. My husband had sinus surgery a few years ago with a different doctor and all post ops appointments were free. Lucky for me, this procedure "doesn't qualify for that" so they billed each post op appointment at $868.46. My insurance won't pay for whatever reason, so my portion is currently $241.23 per follow up appointment (which by the way lasts about 3 minutes.) After all of this, I still have a sinus infection almost 3 months later. All of this being said, the office staff was very nice (and hopefully very well paid), and Dr. Converse himself is very nice and easy to talk to. So, if you have a big pocketbook you'll like him - but buyer beware if not.

Had deviated septum repair and remoal of deep sinus polyps. Dr. Converse is knowledgeable, wise, and a most excellent surgeon. His attitude towards his patients is one of compassion unlike many others who are condescending. His enjoyment of his vocation is readily visible in the way he approaches patient care. He is simply the best.
