Dr. Gerald Jay Smallberg, MD

Excellent clinician who is also caring and compassionate.

Superb medical doctor, and brilliant diagnostician.

As I was leaving, I stated that "...You have cared for my wife and myself as if you were my uncle or cousin which I wished you were..."

I have been a Patient of Dr. Gerald Smallberg since 2009. I have found Dr Smallberg to be one of the Premier Diagnosticians who asks all the relative questions relating to my symptoms. He did comprehensive tests seeking to pinpoint my severe pain and imbalance. Dr. Smallberg did not waste time sending me to unnecessary Doctors that were totally unnecessary in my case. He was precise and to the point and took one visit for Dr Smallberg to Diagnose my Problem and did not load me up with Pills except one medication on a trial basis for 30 days and Bingo, he hit the nail on the head. I am virtually pain free and living a Normal life again. I was taken aback by the Woman who was unfortunately sent to The Mayo Clinic to be given every test under the sun, which brought in plenty of money for Mayo. From what I read I do not know what she was smoking, but I would suggest a Psychiatrist to evaluate this women before going shopping for answers to her apparent "hallucinations." Dr.… Smallberg is one of the finest Neurologists in his field and does not to take a Patient's money necessarily. He is too busy treating Patients who do not try to be Judge and Jury. I put my time and money on Dr. Smallberg any day. He cured my debilitating issues and would highly recommend him without any reservations. Just remember he is the Doctor, you are not and in that way you will be amazed that you found The Best in his Field of practice.

I was referred to Dr. Smallberg when I was suffering from an acute herniated disc with weakness in my leg. I was told by two surgeons to have surgery and it was at this point that I went to see Dr. Smallberg for his opinion as a friend highly recommended him. I was not disappointed. He told me that I should wait and that I did not need the surgery. He has a great clinical judgement and I am grateful for him for saving me from unnecessary surgery.

Dr. Smallberg totally misdiagnosed my symptoms, claiming that I had Vertigo when I had two previous comprehensive vestibular tests which both came back negative. One was conducted by Mayo Clinic. He was so arrogant and claimed that they were all wrong. His test consisted of me hanging my head and neck off the bench for a few seconds and then sitting up and if I felt dizzy it was Vertigo. The Mayo Clinic test took three hours and consisted of many, many tests. He is also extremely expensive and does not take insurance. $750 for a 10 min. consultation which was inaccurate. I do not recommend him, but his office assistant is really nice and helpful.

I have seen Dr. Smallberg for close to 20 years, primarily for migraines but also for other no-big-deal neurological problems. It appears to me that a fair amount of Dr. Smallberg's day consists of reviewing cases sent to him from other neurologists for his review and recommendation. He is pleasant and chatty if a bit quirky, but there is no doubt that he is simply a brilliant practitioner. A great diagnostician and solver of neurological problems to the extent they can be solved. I wouldn't go to anyone else. In some cases he charges a bit more than insurance covers, but it's well worth it for the opportunity to see someone of his degree of expertise.
