Dr. Gerard L Hershewe, DO

Dr. Gerard Hershewe is a very efficient keeps you informed on what is going on with your progress and Recovery. He lets you ask questions gives you plenty of time. And he asked how he's doing. I am very pleased with the treatment I've received from him. Couldn't ask for a better doctor.

I have been seeing Dr. Hershey for approx. 15yrs In my estimation one of the best around. He has a friendly disposition and very easy to talk to. You may have to wait awhile for your appointment but it's well worth the wait. Johnney M.

He has incompetent office help. I had two doctors send referrals. Because they came in on different days they couldn't figure out they were for the same person. I waited and waited, calling each week to see if he had reviewed the referrals only finally to be told he didn't have time to see me. Then two weeks later after seeing another doctor I get a call telling me to come in that day.

He's a retired VA physician who provides the quality of care you'd expect from a fossilized institution. It's his way or the highway. He does not follow up with his patients and is impossible to communicate with. Expect to be billed for the privilege of having your information sent to your employer and don't expect to see what was sent. The more questions you ask, the angrier he gets. Maybe that flew in the 70s but I expect more from a physician in the information age. The last straw was when he was late to my procedure and yelled at me while I was still on the table that he didn't have to be my doctor. That sentiment should've been disclosed before I consented. No follow up re: complications either. I was worse after his handiwork than I was before. I'd rather die than subject myself to him again.

Strongly dislike this doctor. Has a bad reputation among optometrists in town

Dr. Hershewe accurately diagnosed my Father with a rare and fatal neurological disorder. He shared the knowledge of the disease with compassion and clarity, for which I am forever grateful. The accurate diagnosis made an immense difference in the quality my Fatherâ??s remaining life. The same condition was misdiagnosed for the previous three years by numerous neurologists and ophthalmologists.

He's awful he blames everything on a persons weight. He won't hear you out. A person knows when something isn't right with their own body. Doctor Hershew argues and doesn't listen!

Excellent doctor and staff! Hard to get the first appointment but once you get in each appointment after that is very complete. I was misdiagnosed by a previous doctor and Dr. Hershewe found the real problem and is treating it correctly. I have complete faith in him!!

He has the rare gift of compassion, plus he is obviously a brilliant physician.

My wife has pseudotumor cerebri and after many months going through the VA system trying to find treatment her in system neurologist got permission for her to see a specialist. Dr Hershewe. Who her doctor had worked with before. After going to his office she was told the VA did not submit the paperwork correctly and the very rude staff members had her in tears before she left. After following up with the VA she went back and got all the paperwork in the order that Dr. Hershew's staff had requested and had a VA staff member send it to them. Not only did the VA comment on how rude his staff is but then my wife was told that she would have to wait for Dr. Hershewe to review the case and then decide if he would treat her or not. After a month of waiting her VA doctor called and was left with the impression that Dr. Hershew would take her on. And they had even reviewed her records over the phone. After another month wait her VA doctor called Dr. Hershewe again and was then told… that he would not be taking on any clients from the VA. Now if you don't want to deal with the men and women that have severed their country fine. But is it ethical to make someone with a serious medical issue wait months just to tell them you won't take them because you have decided not to work with the VA system? Don't even bother with this so called "Doctor" and his rude staff if you wish to get well.
