Dr. Gina Ann Howey, MD

Dr. Howey was my physician for many years and for the most part I was satisfied with her care. Unfortunately, I lost my insurance this year so I went for a final physical with Dr. Howey. When she learned I was leaving, she advised me to stop my hormone replacement therapy cold turkey since I would no longer have a prescription from her. I did that, and am now so miserable with severe hot flashes that I cannot function. It turns out that stopping HRT cold turkey is not standard of care. She should have worked with me to taper the medications, but did not want to take that time since I was leaving. I am so disappointed that she lost interest in my health and my needs. Her nurse is awesome, though, and gave me a hug when I left.

After the doctor returned from a two week vacation, she saw my mother for a follow up appointment. This appointment was a follow up to a week hospital stay my mother had while the doctor was on vacation. The doctor was unprepared. She had not read the medical record. My mother was visibly on oxygen and the doctor did not check her oxygen level until the family requested it. She did not question my mother's current health status. The family began to ask questions an the doctor apparently felt uncomfortable and stated, "It seems that you are unhappy, and if you want to change doctors you may." We found this completely unacceptable. In addition, the doctor did not place the correct orders for prescription drugs or request the appropriate follow up.

I have been seeing Dr. Howey for over 15 years. She has both exceptional medical knowledge and a comforting bedside manner. She is the doctor everyone wishes they could have.
