Dr. Gohar Maqsood Abbasi, MD

Where to start with Dr. Abbasi. Let me just say that I am fully covered by my insurance and my insurance company was the one who recommended Dr. Abbasi. This will have relevance. I did not like his service one bit. First off, the receptionist team is extremely rude. Whenever you call and have questions about anything regarding your appointment or a bill that they shouldn't have sent you, they are so disrespectful and provide no help whatsoever. On my first visit to see Dr. Abbasi, I went there because I was having really bad period cramps and I was recommended to start BC by my aunt, who is a nurse in Las Vegas. Without asking me what I was there for or even referring to my paperwork, he asked me if I was in his office to start a weight loss program or get recommended one. I was shocked by his question because no doctor has ever commented on my weight in such a manner. He proceeded to tell me that I was severely overweight for my height, (5'6) and that he would be more than happy to… help me with selecting a program that was best for me. Once I turned down his offer, he asked what I was there for. I told him about my bad period cramps and he responded with "That could simply be fixed by eating healthier foods." Now, I'm not a doctor and I can appreciate someone telling me that I should eat healthier, but his approach was out of line. I am a young woman and there are more respectful ways to address someone's weight. Once I told him I needed a prescription for BC, he literally told me no and that he needed to run some blood tests before he would feel comfortable with writing a prescription for birth control. They proceeded to recommend a place that could do the blood work, so I went and had it done. A few weeks later, I called Dr. Abbasi's office to see if they had received my blood work because I had received a copy in the mail. The receptionist told me that they don't deal with that paperwork and that if I wanted to contact the company that did the tests, I would have to call the number on the paper. The whole point of me getting the blood work done was to get it back to Dr. Abbasi's office and see the results so I could get my prescription. Her attitude was just nasty and she was not helpful at all. That following week, I went to my GYNO and was prescribed BC and picked up my pills from the pharmacy THAT night. A year goes by and I get a bill in the mail from Dr. Abbasi's office, saying that I owe them money for the visit and that I was not covered by my insurance at the time of the visit. As I stated before, I am FULLY covered by my insurance company and they picked his office for me. When speaking to my healthcare provider, I was told that I did not even have a co-pay but Dr. Abbasi was sending me a bill for $350 for a visit. He did not do the blood work in his office or even prescribe me BC. The place that did the blood work for me, didn't even charge me. My GYNO never charges me when I go see her. Not even a co-pay. I write this long review to say this, PLEASE DO NO VISIT THIS OFFICE! The staff is terrible and the doctor is rude and disrespectful. Save your time and energy and go someplace where you are treated with respect and human decency.

Dr. Abbasi has always taken time each visit to listen to me and research issues I may be having.
