Dr. Grant Harper Shumaker, MD

My fushion is almost 17 old! Racine lost a great Dr. when he moved away. His practice was very very busy. The pin test results, xrays and the mri results were well studied as he prepared for surgery! He was methodical and precise with information. I can’t tell you how many times I have faced due West and yelled Thank You Dr. Schmaker! Racine really lost one of the best!

This man crippled me.

He had to leave early so my time was cut short and I I didn't get all my questions answered. Will have to make a 2nd appointment. I liked him but I need more answers.

Dr. Shumaker is awesome, talented, and caring. I feel lucky to have had my surgery done by such a skilled neurosurgeon.

This "doctor" did nothing for me but make my condition worse. In addition he caused permanent harm. He did not give me a chance to ask questions.

I met Dr. shumaker in 2001 when he was in racine wi at wheaton franciscan hospital . He performed a L3 To L5 S1 pedicle screw fixation fusion on my back. He was very pleasant explained everything to me that he was going to do and was very pleased with the outcome of the surgery. However for follow up appointments I was seen by his physician assistant each time . the only bad remark I have is that he left wisconsin and went to South Dakota. Wisconsin Lost a great neurosurgeon when he left. would refer anybody to Dr. Grant Shumaker . one thing to remember when having back surgery is you will always have some form of back pain mine was tolerable even to this day it is manageable with exercise and otc pain relievers.

My First visit (I have had 2 so far) the wait was a bit long but Dr Shumaker was called over to ER for an emergency. Knowing that is a possibility, I did not mind the wait. I felt totally comfortable with this doctor. I left that day feeling like I made the right decision. 2nd visit. Wait time was 5 to be called in and no waiting once in exam room. Both times he answered all my questions. he made me feel at ease and was willing to listen to my concerns.

So thankful I went behind several doctors back--after going to Dr. Shumaker and getting the treatment I needed, was the first time I felt relief in over two years. I gave him a hug at follow-up appointment.

Dr. Shumaker is the best surgeon and I am so blessed that he is the doctor who did my spinal fussion 7 years ago. To this day I am doing well after having 2 levels in my neck fussed. Should I ever have to have another fussion done, Dr. Shumaker is the only surgeon I would go too. Thank you for being the wonderful doctor and person you are.

Cannot find a better surgeon. He is by far the best Ive ever had.
