Dr. Gregory Lewis Desilva

Please, please avoid this doctor! I went to him a few weeks after a wrist injury. I told him that I was in pain and could barely use my hand. Could hardly hold a pencil, or do daily functions. He interpreted this as my being "sore." He barely examined my wrist, took an x-ray and said there was no fracture and he didn't think an MRI was needed. He said I just needed time to heal. He was very interested in telling us all about his work with U of A football team, a tennis team, etc. Just not a lot of interest in my injury. A week or two later, when the pain and dysfunction was worse, we insisted on an MRI, which he ordered. The MRI, which was done and read promptly by Radiology Assoc., found a fracture. We then chased Dr. DeSilva for nearly two weeks to try to get him to review the MRI and contact us. We left two messages on the patient portal and two phone messages. A week after the MRI, his office staff assured us that we would get a response in the next few days from the doctor. We… received none. Then we were told he was out of the office for the week. So, two weeks after my MRI, he left town without addressing this. I get that I'm not a football player or some other patient he is excited about, but this isn't responsible medical care. Go to someone else!

I saw Dr. DeSilva about a torn tendon in my arm. Another doc was pressuring me to have expensive tests and emergency surgery, but Dr. DeSilva explained extremely well why he recommended against that. Since then, my arm has recovered and I am super grateful not to have had surgery I did not need.

He seemed as if he was in a rush. I had been through the ringer with the run-around in terms of getting any answers for my injury. He neglected to do a follow up x-ray, which I found bizarre. Rather, he went off of an x-ray I had over a month ago and decided I was fine, despite the fact that I could not raise my arm whatsoever. He turned to me next, looked at me with my C-Collar on and said, “ so what do you want me to do about your neck!?” Huh????? I came from a referral from an InPatient Rehabilitation Center I was living in! I had no idea even who he was or what his specialty was! I just went where the paperwork said to go for my “follow-up.” After I asked if he would do an x-ray of it he replied, “ I only do elbows and knees.” I have never met a more arrogant doctor in my life. I am a new patient who was in a wheelchair from a horrific accident. Roll-over 4 times and ejected and passed around from hospital to hospital with doctors who forgot to take out my stitches and as a result… they were embedded in my skin. Needless to say, I was not in a good place emotionally and mentally. I had a brain injury, as well. After asking him 4 times to check another place on my body for stitches, which he vehemently denied were there, he finally reseeded and checked.. dug in my skin, without lydocane, and pulled out 3 stitches, but stopped there saying there “might” be more, but let’s hope they make their way to the surface of my skin. What On Earth!? My mom and I left- me in tears more confused than ever.. Please don’t pick this physician.????

Dr. DeSilva was able to fix my Tendon which was completely severed during a knife sharpening injury. Very competent man.

I had a very constructive and informative discussion with Dr. DeSilva about the alternative treatments for Dupuytrens. He took time to explain in layman terms the origins and options for treatment. I plan to proceed with the needle aponeurotomy option

Made me feel like I was wasting his time

Dr. DeSilva is about as rude and arrogant as you can imagine a doctor could be. His photo on his website says it all. His arrogant smirk comes through in everything he says and does. Just do a Google Image search for "Gregory L DeSilva, MD", and look at the first photo which comes up. Got the picture yet? Arrogant schmuck.

This physician was condescending. He was neglectful in treating my issue until I refused to leave . I would not see him again for any reason.

Dr. De Silva has performed two surgeries on me. They were done together on the same day in the spring of 2011. One at my wrist (carpal tunnel) and also a procedure that relieved pressure on the nerve where it went by my elbow. Prior to the operation I was having extreme numbness in my fingers accompanied with a burning hot sensation in the palm of my left hand.There was an immediate relief of the pain in my palm after the surgery and within a couple weeks I had regained most of the feeling back in my fingers.

I had an X-ray done at my Doctors office. They found a double fracture of my wrist. I was given a referral to this doctor. I get to his office and they informed me I was a day early (they messed up) but fit me in anyway. My X-ray was sent over electronically long before my appointment. The doctor sees me and tells me due to the location of the fracture there was nothing they could do for it. So this could have told to me BEFORE my visit over the phone since they had access to my X-ray long before the appointment. Then 4 months later I get a call from a collection agency wanting payment for the office visit. I never received any bill from them first. I was at my deductible already for the year so I had no co-pay at this point.
