Dr. Gregory Smith Mcfadden, MD

Gregory McFadden is no longer associated with Scripps LaJolla or PCSD. Don't make decisions before you research him thoroughly - in other words, don't be impressed by a prestigious address. He once said to my daughter, who wanted to talk to him about her problem - "No. I am the pill man. Don't you have a psychologist for that." I would not recommend this man simply because we called in an emergency regarding reactions to a meds change and he said "give her another and I will see her first thing in the morning." My daughter took her own life that night.

McFadden is a cold fish who wants his patients to be ill in ways that don't inconvenience him. He doesn't listen, jumps to conclusions to make diagnoses, pushes drugs that don't help and seems perfectly comfortable with your misery. After all, it keeps you coming back, spending, spending, spending and that seems to be his greatest priority. Avoid this poisonous rat.

Caring, personable, competent.

Dr McFadden has impressive credentials, but that's it. He just throws drugs at you and forgets you. No plan whatsoever. I'm here to find someone else. An example of his concern: a year ago I stopped taking one of many meds he had me on - he's still unaware (that I stopped and probably that I ever took it). I believe he cares about some patients; I've seen him spend 45 minutes with one patient (she got right in, even though I'd waited over an hour past my app't time) while I continued to wait. She was pretty. I wasn't booked as his last patient-but I was his last. I got 5 min before he went home.

I think Dr. McFadden knows the meds and has given me excellent feedback on issues I spoke about. I think he's very intelligent. I stopped seeing him because of my own ambivalence about taking meds and unwillingness to follow the program as prescribed. I was afraid of testing his patience, though he was always patient with me. This was partly my own frustration with myself.

He can be abrupt and to the point . . . but accurately so. I don't go there to get coddled, I go there to get better.

My experience with Dr McFadden was awful! I waited for over an hour & when I was called back to his office---he had a very arrogant disposition about him and I instantly felt not safe or comfortable, I requested my copay back and walked out!!! I deffinately will not return to see him!!!!

Wrong diagnosis, he convinced me to take medication I probably didn't need for years, and convinced me to keep taking it when it really didn't help much. After stopping it and against his advice I felt much better. Short appointments, doesn't listen, he's not great.

Would never recommend him and considering reporting him to the board of psychiatry.

Worst psychiatrist and doctor i have ever had. Didn't listen to what i had to say, jumped to conclusions, diagnosis would change month to month without visitations, miss diagnosed, waited more than an hour sometimes (normally 15-30 minutes ),admitted to talking to others without consent. When told him of improper diagnosis i was told get a second opinion. When i did and came back to clarify, i was told never to come back.
