Dr. Gretchen Haupt Jacobson

A 2 hour procedure turned into a 6 hour procedure. She left hardware in my neck, run if you can run!

Years ago when I was in my 20's I had a brain aneurysm and was taken to St. Johns hospital. Dr. Jacobson spoke to my parents and told them she would have to wait a week to operate because she wanted me to stabilize. My mother would not have it and called UCLA and spoke to a Neurosurgeon there that sent a helicopter to pick me up. He did not wait to do the surgery. I was in a coma for a week after but came out of it just fine. Please find help elsewhere, when a doctor tells you to wait when there is blood on your brain, chances are you are not going to make it.

This doctor has no bedside manner and was testy in answering questions especially if I had to ask them twice because I did not understand. Her office staff operates the same way. I was never given a reason for my problem and left with many unanswered questions. Would not recommend, although she may be competent doctor, I could not work with her attitude and felt some of the procedures she did do could have been done better.

Definitely needs to learn about "bedside manner." I didn't even get to explain how I was feeling. She did all the talking and didn't even listen. She's also very insensitive to your feelings. The staff was great, but I definitely won't go to see her again.
