Dr. David Randall Hantke, MD

HE has been my doctor for several years. Today he went beyond the call of duty. I was having trouble swallowing and called the office. I had cancer a year ago and was worried. They gave me a same day appt. He is following up by doing some more test. I just want to thank him and his staff for being so caring.

I could give a 0 star, I definitely would. Weeks ago I went in for bilateral hearing loss. I’m only 32 with no reason for this sudden hearing loss. No accidents, no loud noises and no trauma in any way. A hearing test showd I have inner ear damage / nerve damage and hearing loss in both ears. Dr hantke could have caused my hearing loss to be permanent due to lack of care and interest in my very rare case. I was given a very low dose of steroids to “try “ to get my hearing back and was told that if it didn’t work, he didn’t have a plan B. He did not refer me to another ent for a second option, he didn’t refer me to a specialist for a case he couldn’t figure out. He just sent me away and never even asked for a second appointment to be scheduled or even a follow up hearing test!!! What the he** kind of doctor would just let a patient leave with absolutely no answers in this situation and not offer any other treatment or options to get the hearing loss back?!?! Since then, I’ve seen… another ENT that actually cares who referred me to a specialist that is now giving me steroid ear injections and doing everything in his power to help me get my hearing back. This doctor informed me that the steroid dosage that Dr. Hantke gave me was extremely low, especially in my case since I have bilateral hearing loss. Also you should be informed that when hearing loss happens, the first couple weeks are the most important in order to regain you hearing loss. Don’t waste your time going to Dr. Hantke. If you ever have an emergency or any hearing loss, West coast ENT was the better option. That’s who referred me to the most amazing specialist that actually shows compassion and care for their patients. Dr. Hantke should not be in this business if he doesn’t show care and attention or proper treatment to his patients!! And on top of that... his front office staff girl was extremely rude and cold. Not welcoming at all. Horrible office !

first off scared me with possible bad diagnosis even before examining me. Then billed me for surgery for cleaning wax out of one of my ears for 80$. Took about 2 minutes.

Dr. Hantke was very professional. He asked me what am I feeling and how it affecting me. I explained to him what is going on and how I felt about it. He gave me his diagnosis and options on how the fixes are. He made me think about it and gave his honest opinion. He did his surgery, supposed to be outpatient, but due to other historical medical issue, he decided for me to stay in the hospital for one night for observation. He visited me the next day and discharged with prescribed medications and instructions. Good doctor, very honest and straight forward. Highly recommended.

# 1 - Staff was rude, uncaring, more concerned about their inter-staff social conversation than acknowledging that I had just signed in....20 minutes later the rude girl asked for my new patient paperwork....I told her, no one greeted me nor gave me any paperwork since I signed in. She rudely handed me the clipboard without a kind word.(when making the appt, girl was robotic, uncaring,unkind....i told her that when people see a specialist its b/c they really are suffering...her reply 'there are other people waiting on the line". As for the Doc,clearly he knows his stuff, but the words that linger with me in describing him are pompous a_ _ . I am finding a new doc to work with.

Office helpful. Dr spent the time I needed and answered all questions unhurried. Very honest and knowledgeable.

This is actually the 3rd ENT specialist I have seen in the last couple weeks. Dr. Hantke asked focused physical exam questions related to my chronic nasal congestion - dry or runny nose? duration of nasal congestion? fever? medications? etc? He did a quick, thorough physical exam - conjunctival pallor, thyroid, lymph glands in neck, uvula deviation, ear's tympanic membrane, checked for sinus pressure, and examined my nasal turbinates & septum. Then, he offered a detailed & thorough explanation of my situation. He offered a balanced view that surgery may not completely cure my ailments, but since I have tried all other medical treatments, surgery is a possibility to help alleviate some of my suffering. He did not try to "sell" me surgery, but told me to go home to think about it. When he speaks, he's got a lot of information packed into each sentence! Anyway, I would recommend Dr. Hantke. He gave a detailed, thoughtful explanation drawing a picture to show my problem, and answered all… my questions without rushing me out the door.

I could not be happier with the treatment and knowledge of this doctor and the time and consideration that was taken during my appointment. I found he and his staff to be curteous and very knowledgable. I highly recommend this office and doctor to anyone in need of ENT care.
