Dr. Haifa S Al-Azawi, MD

Today I took my grandma to see this doctor and to make the long story short, when she was going to see her in the room, my grandma wanted to use the restroom and she told her to hold it, and insisted to ask her if she could not hold it. She said no, and asked her in a rude way if she was “ leaking”. I told her that she was wearing a diaper. Then she told us in a rude way that if she was “leaking” she could not see her, that she should be in a convalescent home at her age and that over there somebody else will see her. I asked her why? because my grandma lives with her son, she walks without help, she cooks and clean the house herself she even prepare bags with groceries for the poor, but she insisted that she would not examiner if she was leaking because they didn’t have somebody to come and clean her urine!!!!(?), and that “at her age she should be in a convalescent”. She asked us to leave and go back to the doctor who referred us because she won’t see her. As I insisted to… understand why if she was an OBYG doctor couldn’t just check her pessarie, she insisted and that she should be in a convalescent and as I asked her how she can sent her if she hasn’t even examined her, and that grandma just saw her doctor next door for a physical and he knows that she is very healthy for her age. Then she left very upset to talk to the doctor who just referred us. We were in shock and the nurses were surprise of this doctors reaction. The she left very upset to talk to the doctor who just referred us. We were in shock and the nurses were surprise of this doctor’s reaction feeling sorry for this grandma. When she came back we were still in her mini waiting room, and asked us in a rude way to leave and go and see the referring doctor. She told me I was very un respectful to her who was the doctor. I was never Unrespectful I was just questioning why she didn’t want to see her. The story is Too long, but few minutes later the previous doctor came and said “ I’m sorry”, he gave us a referral for a different doctor and location and left quickly kind of embarrassed. Never in my 29 years working as a MA for Káiser Permanente I worked with a rude doctor like this one. No wonder she has this form that patients have to sign where YOU GIVE UP YOUR RIGHT TO TAKE HER TO COURT IN CASE OF MALPRACTICE. Dr. Haifa Al-Azawi is very experienced at her specialty. She provides exceptional services. Her office manager Ligia is the most professional office person I've met in the medical field. I highly recommend Dr Al-Azawi. If you have to wait for your appointment, don't be discouraged or let it affect your experience. She is worth the wait.

Dr.. Al-Azawi is by far the best doctor I have had in my 64 years of going to doctors. She is caring and will take the time to explain things to you if you do not understand. I had surgery with her at Los Alamitos Medical Center and she was the greatest doctor, coming to see me and just all around very professional.

Dr. Azawi was absolutely the WORST! I actually left in TEARS because of the way she made me feel. (THIS IS LONG BUT WILL SHOW THE EXACT EXPERIENCE I HAD WITH AZAWI) First off, I came in for a Pap Smear. The staff there was incredible. Naomi first helped me and we talked about everything going on. Then took me to another room to be examined by Dr. Azawi. Dr. Azawi came in about five minutes later and was in a horrible mood because she said she was not feeling good. I first asked if she can explain exactly what she is going to do with the utensils. Without saying a word, she left the room and I heard her yelling at Naomi saying, " Why didn't you consult her about the procedure? Go talk to her! She doesn't know why she is here obviously!" Poor Naomi came in right after to explain the utensils. Then Dr. Azawi came in and did the procedure. I asked her birth control methods. And she exactly said, " That is not my job. I do the physical examination, not a consultant. If you have… questions, talk to Naomi." But I explained to her how serious my irregular periods became. She said, "April, you are 21. I know 13 year olds that know more than you. You act like a little kid not knowing what is going on with your body. Don't you have friends that are on the pill? You are 21. If I talk to you, it is going to take my whole day. I can't do that for you. I am not a teacher. I will get Naomi." Then she called me a kid when she left. Naomi came back in and talked to me. I cried from my frustration. Naomi again explained how the doctor is just feeling sick and apologized. Few minutes passed with Naomi. Azawi came back in and said, "Why are you crying? You know kid, I take my job serious and I am straight with my words. If you can't handle it, be more confident when you talk to a doctor. (Naomi left). Then I told her straight out, " I am not a kid so don't treat me like one or talk down to me just because I am asking you a question. I have a concern but ALL you did was make me feel DUMB for not knowing." She looked at my chart and saw I used to be on anxiety medicine. And said, " OOOHH, YOU are just DEPRESSED and SENSITIVE. HERE, HERE is a lollipop. Can you smile for me now? Smile, April, Smile big for me? Aw, no smile? " SOOO DEGRADING. I WAS COMPLETELY SHOCKED HOW SHE USED MY ANXIETY TO TREAT ME LIKE A KID. Then, I finally put my foot down and exchanged few words with her. No words can truly explain my experience with Dr. AZAWI. Which is why I choose to tell my experience for you to judge for yourself. Not only did she use my health history against me, talk down to me, and made me feel like a mental case for just asking about birth control, she manage to also yell at my mother when I stormed out of the office saying "YOUR DAUGHTER IS JUST SENSITIVE." Honestly, do not see AZAWI. If anything, NAOMI and staff was the better help. Azawi talks down to you, rude, and completely unprofessional. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Dr. Azawi is very unprofessional and my daughter left her office in tears because of how she was treated! Do not recommend her to anyone!

If you are looking for a real professional, you must see Dr. Azawi. She and her staff are the most professional and go out of their way to provide you with the best services available. I would not consider looking for another Dr. I drive from Garden Grove especially to see her because I know that what she tells me about my health, comes from many years of experience. You will not be disappointed. This Dr. loves her profession. She loves to deliver babies and takes pride in the family experience.

I loved this doctor! Very knowledgeable, has many years of experience. She answered all my questions and reassured me when I was worried. She is hands down the most personable doctor I've ever known. So incredibly friendly. Her office staff is as equally friendly and easy to work with. And yet she is very good at her job, I needed a c section and within minutes I was in the operating room, she did not hesitate in an emergency and her skill set is excellent. Her office isn't the most updated and modern but she makes up for it with her knowledge base, and extreme devotion and love she has for her job and patients.

Dr. Azawi has been my GYN for about 10 years now. I visited her in both of her offices. she always had that warm welcoming attitude. Experienced, knowledgeable, and caring always. Currently her staff is very nice and helpful. I would recommend her to others.
