Dr. Hazem Abdalla Eltahawy, MD

Dr. Elthahawy is a wonderful, amazing doctor that I have had for the past 11 years and he has done a couple different kinds of surgeries on my back because I have degenerative disc disease. He has saved my life a couple of times, he even stopped doing what what he was doing and/or what was planned because he was concerned that a trial for a Neuro stimulator might have gotten infected that he had me go into surgery and remove it and then put me on antibiotics and after that he then put the permanent one in, I don’t have that one anymore because there is a better updated one. I owe my life to him, I will not go to another neurosurgeon ever... I found him when he moved from the DMC to St. Mary Mercy in Livonia, and I just found out that he left his practice on Monday and I’ll wait and be patient to find out where he relocated to so I can get the updated Neuro stimulator.

He has performed two different surgeries on my spine in two different areas L5/S1 and C5/C6. After the first one I was up walking that evening. The second one I was finally free of constant pain. Mind you I was involved in an car accident years earlier and these two surgeries were a last resort to constant pain and many years of trying this that and the other. It may seem to some he doesn't fully explain things. I fully understood as it was discussed with my neurologist prior to seeing him. Now 23 years after being hit by a drunk driver I still have issues with my neck (nothing to do with what he did) and will probably need Dr. Eltahawy again.

the appointment took a month to schedule; he mumbled the whole time during clinic; the staff doesn't return patient phone calls. I wouldn't send my dog here.

Dr. Eltahawy is quiet and reserved, yet very knowledgeable and patient. He explained the surgery in great depth and answered all our questions. His staff was very accommodating when scheduling my appointments and surgery. The surgery went very well with no complications. I am very pleased.

I saw him several times after surgery and he refused to believe that something was wrong. Finally my internist ordered and mri which showed his cages had moved and were pinching off my spinal cord.

I have so much trust in this doctor. I had 3 levels of my lumbar spine performed by Dr. Eltahawy and a general surgeon who assisted him. I cannot express the trust I put in these two and they came thru. I haven't had to take any medication since. The surgery was performed about 4 years ago and I am working for a Veterinarian in Ferndale. I do not walk with a cane or a limp. He is an excellent neurosurgeon and I would recommend him to anyone needing this kind of service.

This doc used to be at dmc. Now he has disappeared. When I call nobody knows why he left or where.

Still waiting on a call back from this office.

This guy is a joke and his residents do all the surgery. My operation took 8 hours when he told me it would be 2. I am still in pain. His office won't listen to your pain problems even if he causes them
